Week 25 - Wimbledon - London (grass) - women's qualifying

McNally made a dreadful start but playing much better now.

4-4*

Katie misses a couple of break points and McNally holds after 4 deuces.

*4-5

3-0 up to losing the set 6-4 - what a shame.

Naiktha dragging this out to the hour mark would be a win

ETA and nope although in fairness to her 25% of the remaining draw would probably have been in that ballpark against Pironkova

Hope Katie can pull this off, but every time she gets ahead McNally claws right back. Not sure if this is nerves from Katie or McNally having the match more on her own racket.

I was thinking maybe they are selling rights to overseas broadcasters and so want some diversity, but it's always such a mismatch of nationalities it's hard to work out a strategy.

I reckon that is probably the reason why the Brits aren't on Court 11 - the beeb must be trying to sell the qualifiers to overseas broadcasters, otherwise we would have a constant list of Brits on Court 11. Everyone is right, that since the BBC started covering the qualifiers live on one court a few years ago (4 or 5 I think), there has been almost no attempt to get the best matches onto the court that they are covering.

Surely if the BBC was serious about selling rights to overseas broadcasters they would take the trouble to stream a few more courts? I tend to think Emmsie's got it right and they've got a moron in charge of the scheduling.

27 winners and 40 UE from Katie, both stats way ahead of Caty, Shame she couldn't get another couple of matches in before this.

Re the streaming - if the betting sites have streams for every court then there's no reason why the LTA couldn't market it better and the BBC show more - but I suppose the BBC aren't interested in showing qualifying when the few Brits present are scatteredaround the courts.

I see Rodionova has levelled the second set at 5-5. Hope she can now wrap it up so we don't have to wait too long for Anton! Oh and brilliant second set tie break from Katie. C'mooon!!
