Jodie twice has break point chances but can't take them and gets broken just before the rain arrives again

6-1 3-5 15-15*

Wasn't Dart originally playing with Heather or did I imagine that.

Well. What a disappointing result for Jodie. Ok rankings suggested a tricky match but Ahn's recent form has been terrible.

Didn't see anything after the rain break.

Was sure Jodie was going to lose after it.....

Difficult to know whether to be pleased that Jodie can play SO well (see first set and quite a bit of second)

Or SO irritated that, yet again, she lets a wonderful lead slip and can't close a match out

Maybe there were mitigating reasons but I think this is the main take away point from this match. She needs to learn how to see matches out like this if she is to make in-roads up the rankings. She's got a potentially good game but mentally sometimes seems to get a bit loose headed.

Really would like to know what she and her coach say in their debrief after this match. Some positives but....

Oh Jodie. Again goes walkabouts mentally when in control just because she misses a couple of balls. As soon as she missed the second break point in the second she went walkies. I thought she might be able to use the delay to regroup for the third but if anything was worse. There must be tools or techniques her team can equip her with to help, it's happening too often at all levels that at a set and a half she just lets it unravel.

She was absolutely bossing the match as well. Such an opportunity missed.

Looks like all but three of our top 25 ranked plaers are playing somewhere this week.

I'll post the doubles draw shortly, once I've looked up all the rankings.

Where is Jodie based? Who coaches her?

She was at JTC for ages (and may still be)

Colin Beecher and Lucy Ahl were often by the side of courts when she was playing back before covid times.

And, yes, I think they have a lot to answer for, to be honest.

Would you mind elaborating on this? (am curious!)
