Flamingowings, honestly, I know it's difficult from the outside and maybe I'm talking a load of ***, and - remember - I've been a HUGE Jodie fan ever since she was 16/17 and I saw her for the first time.

BUT for two/three years I watched Jodie with Colin and Lucy at her side. And I've never (ever!) seen such awfully negative court behaviour, and so consistently too i.e. Jodie would miss a ball, or get a slightly dodgy call, and would go into complete meltdown, lots of shouting, lots of 'the world's against me', lots of negativity ('how can you be SO awful????) - and, sure as eggs is eggs - would lose.

AND my point is that Colin and Lucy sat at the side, nodding calmly, Colin usually completely impassive and Lucy trying to look encouraging.

Now, once, or twice, fine. BUT it was every time. If that had been some of the coaches I know, they'd have flipped a gasket. Honestly, I think she needed someone to step on the court and take her off. Or for her coach to just get up at the change of ends and say 'Jodie, I've got better things to do with my life, you do what you like, I'm out of here'. Because she was basically 'allowed' to get away with it. And allowed to give herself an excuse to lose every time.
And maybe they talked about it in detail later - I'm sure they did.
BUT it wasn't working. Because the week after it would be the same thing. And, hey presto, it's still the same.
Colin and Lucy had to do something different. Or Jodie had to change coaches. In fact, Colin and Lucy should have told her to change coaches because it was obvious that what they were doing was not really working. And I think a bit of shock tactics would have done some good....

It's a little unfair to blame the coaches, particularly if the behaviour is from a 15/16 year old as it will be entrenched by then, where are her Parents, they must have witnessed her behaviour and realised it was detrimental to her.

I've already mentioned on here how I ealt with my Son and his propensity to break rackets, it's not hard to nip stuff in the bud when they're 8 and 9 years old, it's a whole different ballgame at 15

I'm not blaming the coach for the behaviuor at the start.
But when you see it over an extended period, then you say: what are the coaches doing to address this?
And she wasn't a junior either
As said, I know other coaches who would handle it very differently.
And their way basically didn't seem to be working

And, yes, parents are to blame too.

But I also noticed Freya started doing the same (And she hadn't as a young junior)

Not the shouting but the mega negativity

And even on livestream Ryan storrie seemed to have adopted the same....

Which goes to coaches, no?

Oh yes, I wasn't trying to take the ultimate responsibility away from the player. Absolutely. As we said here a week or so ago, Jodie could be top 100 - IF she really wants to be.

What happened to Tara? In 2016 I thought she was certain to make the top 100 within the next year, now she's in the 400s and is now 28/29. Did something happen to cause that decline?

Not going to lie, I was quietly hoping Eden would pull through as I feel she actually has some upward trajectory potential.

I know what you mean wales. People will obviously have their faves on the board, and Tara can play on the grass, and is definitely capable of getting a couple of decent wins over the next couple of weeks, but, when you're pushing 29, nearer 500 than 400, generally more focussed on doubles, I find it harder to get excited.

Mind, now 25, and actually lower ranked (I thought she was nearer the early 400s, was pretty shocked to see her at 520), Eden is getting closer to that 'more off my radar' phase as well, but I too was quietly hoping she'd come through this one.
