Lovely to see Katie B back to form. Tough tests if she wants to progress further, but the ranking points gained already should be a real help and beating a player of Heather's calibre will give her a lot of confidence. I thought it was a very professional display - not spectacular, but good, solid tennis from Katie B.

According to WTA, Katie hasn't played Davis before but she played Riske in 2018 (Beijing R32) winning in 3 sets, 4-6 6-3 6-2.

Big jump in rankings coming - live-eu are showing Katie at 216, and OER are showing 214, Both may be wrong of course, but a jump of over 40 places is good to see.

Jo beat Alison Van Uytvanck in a $25k tournament at Bath in 2012.

Jo Ko wins the first set convincingly against Van Uytvanck. Fingers crossed for her and Katie B - that would make a final that all on here would be happy to see. Probably won't happen, but you never know - both players are showing good form and it bodes well for them for Wimbledon too.

Does anyone know if Katie B will be playing later. The order of play on the Nottingham website has her at 4th up on the main court and playing the winner of the Davis v Riske match, but that wasn't completed last night, so don't know if they will play that and then Katie B will play as scheduled (4th up on the main court) or whether Katie B's quarter final will happen tomorrow.

The organisers must have had to re-jig the schedule yesterday evening but they haven't put the changes online on their website, and Flashscore, which I use for live scores doesn't have Katie B's match listed today (but they often don't react quickly to changes in schedule).

I think it's quite telling that JoKo has also opted to ply doubles this week, suggests that her knee issues are under control.

All good news then - thanks for the update Seagull - now all I need is for Katie B to get her match completed before the footie starts at 8 pm.

emmsie69 you are right that it is an excellent sign that JoKo is in the doubles, though she is looking a little tired out there at the moment - hopefully she will wrap the match up in a minute or two

I have vivid matches of watching Van Uytvanck at Wimbledon, where here temper tantrums after almost every point were the worst I have seen in all the years I have been going; if my memory serves me correctly, she lost to a Brit, that day, but can't remember who. Van Uytvanck's temperament is so brittle that I am surprised that she has been as successful as she has been - she has the skills, but mentally it is another story.

Well done Jo - good solid win in the tie break.

Hopefully the despair that lots of people on here felt at the state of British women's tennis is lessening now. I did feel it was largely related to how poorly British players perform on clay and results on grass at Nottingham this week are confirming that things are nowhere near as bad as they appeared to be to some people 3 or 4 weeks ago.

I must admit though, that even I am pleasantly surprised by how well JoKo is playing this week - fingers crossed for her at Wimbledon; there are a lot of ranking points at stake there and the chance for her to continue to turn around her miserable form of late. She must have a great chance of winning Nottingham now - very pleased for her; the ranking points gained here will help her too.

Well done the addict - people on here are so knowledgeable.

I knew it was a lesser name in British tennis and so the match was scheduled on an one of the really small outside courts and was packed to the rafters, so it probably didn't help Van Uytvanck that she faced a very hostile crowd; nonetheless the annoyance, petulance and bad temper shown by Van Uytvanck at nearly every point had to be seen to be believed.

Tara stayed calm and in control and breezed through it. Maybe Van Uytvanck had something happen that day... but even so.

I've seen a few things over the years, and I was one of the few courtside at nearly 9.30 pm when Tim Henman smashed a ball into the ball girl's face and got banned - there were under a hundred of us who witnessed that - he was very unlucky though, as he hadn't meant for the ball to hit anyone.
