Looks like Katie B. has given Beth a walk over.

Anyone any idea if Katie B is injured or if she's withdrawn to go an sign into qualis or something somewhere else?

Or something somewhere else - BJK CUP

She's not entered for any ITF's until 26th April. Perhaps she managed to find an early flight home !

Beth now plays Olivia Gadecki in the SF. I had earmarked that as a potential interesting SF for Katie at the start of the week, so a shame it isn't happening (from my POV), but at least it's Beth getting a bit of fortune.

Like others, hopefully Katie has got what she wanted from her couple of matches here and just heading back in better time with the BJK Cup in mind, and not related to the 3 setter yesterday.

SF:- Alicia Barnett (GBR) /Lina Glushko (ISR) CR1117 (335+782) [3] def Jodie Anna Burrage (GBR) / Sarah Beth Grey CR598 (372+226) [1] 6-3 6-2

Lissey continues to do well in doubles - and Jodie can join Katie on the plane home !

And Beth's happy, whatever, coz she's in the singles semis

I have to say I find this very worrying. If Katie can't manage more than two matches at a very weak 15K event, I can't see how she's fit to play in the BJ King cup.

is it not more likely she wants to get home having been selected, job done in Egypt, no more to be gained - focus on BJK?

I don't think Jodie will be doing that unless she wants to spend 11 nights in hotel quarantine and miss the BJK Cup.

Do hope Katie is OK. That was an unexpected struggle yesterday which strongly suggested that she needed to find more form. And it ssems a bit strange to voluntarily call a halt now, BJK at the end of next week or not.

She would have expected to be in the GB squad next week when she entered, would she really have gone to Sharm just for a couple of matches? Hope she's fit though wouldn't be surprised if pulling out was a precaution after feeling a twinge.

Who would replace her if necessary? Fran in Portugal next week, Naiktha currently in a Red list country, Samantha Murray and Emma Raducanu haven't played competitively in months. Emily Appleton or Freya Christie perhaps?

It does look a bit difficult finding a replacement singles player. Looking down the list of those that might be considered, there's Tara and Eden, then Lissey and Beth. So Emily A and Freya are quite possibly the only two who could make up the numbers, being both in the country.
