UK Pro Series

Does anyone know, do the Finals week have points so that they add to the Week 9 end of regular season table OR do they act as a standalone event ?

Womens SFs
Katy Dunne def. Nadia Rawson 6-0 6-2
The first set was closer than the score suggests with Nadia having 6 BPs over 2 of Katy's 3 service games

Lauryn John-Baptiste def. Emily Appleton 6-1 5-7 13-11

Final: Katy Dunne v Lauryn John-Baptiste
Hopefully Lauryn can make more of a match of it then the 1&2 defeat against Katy in the round robin earlier in the week.

I see that Lucy Brown is playing some play-off match so, presumably, has stepped in for someone.

SO lovely to see her back.

(Lucy got up to nearly WTA 500, for those who have forgotten or didn't know)

Dan Cox versus George Houghton in the mens final, Dan is going to be top of the league table as well.

Was she related to Amanda Brown of maybe 20-30 years ago? She was daughter of Ken Brown, the Norwich manager of old

No idea, I'm afraid. There's a lot of Browns

Lucy was blonde, very solid back of the court player although had better dubs success, I think. Played Wimbly qualis, once played dubs with Laura Robson, I seem to remember, came from Oxfordshire way. Had to work in a pub, I remember too, to try and make ends meet, despite being 600 in the world or so....

A nice blast from the past smile

I think Lucy reached a couple of 10K finals (I feel like she lost to Jo in one?) but never quite made the jump up to the 300-500 ranking range for whatever reason.

Yes, Lucy retired from the tour a few years ago, never quite being able to get back to where she was after several injuries. She did her coaching exams and I believe was working in a school. No relation to Amanda Brown or Ken Brown that I know of. The first time I saw Lucy play she lost a tight match to Harriet in a $10k at Chiswick. I'm still in occasional contact.

Lucy is still coaching in Oxfordshire. Last month she won 5 out of 5 for Halton in the team which won the LTA National Team Tennis championship in Bournemouth. I was there when a spectator told Lucy that she had the most perfect backhand in world tennis!

Yes, a very good backhand (see attached pic from 2016). She's playing again tomorrow.

Well, Lauryn certainly did make more of a match of it and comes out as the surprise winner defeating Katy 3-6 6-3 10-3

The other women's results from today

Nadia Rawson def Emily Appleton - walkover - for third place
Katie Stresnakova def Emma Wilson 6-1 7-5 - for fifth place
Lucy Brown def Amy Leather 6-2 6-2 - 9th-12th playoffs - don't know the finishing order as the tables aren't up to date. I think it is Maddie, (Lucy), Amy, Tiffany and Daisy, but with Lucy coming in and withdrawals I'm not sure.

Edit:- Official table now out. Maddie, Lucy, Amy, Tiffany

This weeks final table
1   Lauryn John-Baptiste 18
2   Katy Dunne         15
3   Nadia Rawson      12
4   Emily Appleton     10
5   Katie Stresnakova 8
6   Emma Wilson       7
7   Holly Hutchinson   6
8   Freya Davies        5
9   Maddie Brooks     4
10 Amy Leather        3
11 Tiffany William      2
12 Daisy Chapman    1

Overall, the top 9 remains the same, with Katie S and Emma all but guaranteeing their place in finals week (assuming Beth or Millie don't play in week 9).

George Houghton beat Dan Cox and it seems Dan didnt do enough to topple Billy Harris as league leader

It is close, but not quite. Billy was on 63 after week 7 and Dan on 47, So Dan moves to 62 points, and George will move up the table from 9th place into 3rd I believe.
