Arthur has just started. Felix is third on and Matilda presumably plays tomorrow.

Felix went two breaks up in the final set, lost one of them but spared himself the test of serving out by breaking again in the ninth game

(9) Arthur Fery d. (WC) Mehdi Sadaoui (FRA) 6-4 6-3
Felix Gill d. Leonardo Malgaroli (ITA) 5-7 6-4 6-3

Next up for Arthur is an ATP ranked Spaniard, while Felix takes on the eleventh seed, who is also ATP ranked but difficult to evaluate, as his impressive results, including a Grade A title, have come in Southern Africa

R2

(9) Arthur Fery v Mario Mansilla Diez (ESP)
Felix Gill v (11) Khololwam Montsi (RSA)

Felix looked absolutely on his last legs at towards the end of that third set.

Did well to come through - he was the more proactive player in the third but could easily have got himself into a really tense finish, and managed not to

The BBC have a nice long article about Arthur Féry, his French background, college plans and his tennis

www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/54289415

I would like to congratulate Leon Smith on agreeing with me () - he says that the thing that stands out about Arthur is that he has a "really smart tennis IQ"

Matilda is second on court 5, Arthur third on court 3 and all 3 are involved in doubles later - a particularly tough assignment for Arthur and Felix. matilda renews her Australian Open partnership - where they reached the final

Boys Doubles R1 (L32)

(1) Cazeau/Mayot(FRA) v Fery/Gill

Girls Doubles R1 (L32)

Coleman/Sieg (USA) v Falkner/Mutavdzic (SLO/GBR)

Matilda takes her first set 7-5. Good how Eurosport Player seems to have most, possibly all, of these matches.

And the second 6-1 smile

Only saw five minutes of that match but Matilda looking like someone who had a bit of Spanish sun over summer, at that new academy of hers

Looking forward to the round two matches of all three
