Week 32 - UK Pro Series Classic Week- St George's Hill, Weybridge - (Hard)

I see that Abigail Johnson (did BotB, BT etc) has tweeted that she is commentating on Eurosport Player this week, and I've just switched on to the men's matches on YouTube and she is on there, and there are different camera angles. I'm pretty sure she just mentioned that the women are on Court 1 tomorrow, so they'll probably be switching courts all week and the better coverage covering the men one day, and the women the next.

Although you'd think they may mix up the courts later in the week, and have all the bigger matches on one court, because if it was simply men M, W, F, Su, and women Tu, Th, Sa then it would be a bit poor if a potential Harriet vs Jodie/Emma grand final on the Sunday was on the poor persons court, whereas the men's 11th/12th placing match had the priortity, and vice versa.

Six games, 5 breaks of serve and a lengthy MTO for Emily after the third game. She leads 4-2*

Beth Grey WR607 v Emily Appleton WR675 def Beth Grey 7-6(4) 3-6 10-5

Poor MTB from Beth, thought she was going to take the match.

Emma was 1/40 pre match to beat Nadia at 365, but Nadia immediately broke and had points for 2-0, but 1-1 now. Emma probably just settling in.

I do have a few concerns for her and the tournament about potentially competing in 7 matches in 7 days with her injury history (Emma) but hopefully she'll manage it fine.

It was a bit more competitive than it sounded, 45 mins, and Nadia did have a few further BP chances, although obviously no real concerns with that final margin.

Could be on her way to an early break in the second as well here (Emma).

Gets it via a DF at the 3rd attempt. 6-2 *3-1, and follows up with a quick hold to love. Looks well on her way now.

Pretty comfortable overall. 6-2 6-3, less extended games in the 2nd, and that was only 30 mins, despite the additional game.

I hope we get to see Emma vs Jodie in the next couple of days. I'd imagine most would probably expect those to be the top 2 here, bar any injuries, but it would make the group a bit more interesting, even if they were just delaying the inevitable, if like Emily or someone was 2nd in the table heading into the Thursday (mainly due to fixture order), rather than the 'big 2' both being on circa 12 points on Friday, and officially just playing for 1st and 2nd.

That must have been up there with the longest individual women's games at SGH so far, deuce x 12, but Freya finally holds. Harriet 6-4 *4-5.

Harriet ended up winning 6-4 7-5 in a 2 hr 30 battle. Good effort by Freya, as both sets passed the hour, but of course, in this format that is effectively the same as a 6-0 6-0 45 minute drubbing in terms of points, and placings will very rarely ever come down to games won, as H2H and individual match wins seem to be the first tie breakers. A 0-6 7-6 0-10 type defeat would have been more profitable, but she can definitely take encouragement from it in the matches ahead.

Decent win for Harriet in her first SGH match, and takes the full 3 points on offer.

The first all weekly event winner battle up next, Naomi vs Sonay.

They've updated their news sections, and there's some decent articles about a few of the players and what they'll do with their money etc:

Harriet has an outside shot at making the US Open. She's already down to 14 out and withdrawals continue by the day.
