Yeah, I think indoors generally makes a better TV spectacle as was mentioned when comparing the initial BotB vs Progress Tour. I heard they said they were bringing in stands for this when watching the British Tour last week, so I was kind of expecting a middle court, with temp stands (like they had at Shrewsbury W60) either side with captains and players (a meter or so apart of course) cheering them on, and being a focal part of the presentation. 

 

They understandably want to be as careful as possible, but I think they could have met a bit more in the middle. It's tennis to watch, which is good in itself, but it doesn't feel much different to a typical British Tour match, where Cam competed the other week.

Agreed in general, indoors always captures the feel of an event much more though; with crowds, outdoors can work, but without crowds it is more like just playing down your local club or park, sadly

having said that, most of the players will play most of their matches with only a handful or spectators anyway!

Aye, that's true enough. I hadn't initially realised there were 2 courts running simultaneously until yesterday (or when the OOP came out in Sunday), and obviously the non players were more together with easier access to both courts. There's only 3 matches on Court 1 today, so maybe by the time of the final mixed doubles match comes about later on there might be a bit more atmosphere, and could possibly differentiate those as a more marquee match.

With Cam beating Jan and Liam just beating Anton, the Bull Dogs move 12-4 ahead and are going to have a decent lead if Union Jacks dont get going soon!

 I think the Jacks will win most of the remainder of today's matches so it will be close again going into Day 3.

 At the present rate Katie is going to do it for them. Jo yet to hold serve . Katie wins first set 6-2.

Jo is horrendous. Imagine she'd gone over to the states with no matches and turned up like this. Hopefully she can shake out the rust.

 

The Barnett/Lumsden match is much more entertaining.

A set down and 3-1 down in the 2nd set Jo has just held serve for the 1st time and maybe  only time in the match.  I wonder what Thomas Hogstedt is thinking.

I'm pleased Konta is showing signs of light here for a few reasons - obviously it's more encouraging for her going forward, but had Katie rotinely won 6-2 6-1/2 which it was looking about 20 minutes ago, then I think it would have taken something away from Jodie's win yesterday.

I'm hoping for a MTB (looking more likely now, more than when I started typing this), and then maybe Katie eventually coming through to close the 4-12 lead a bit (albeit just 1 point).

 Probably thinking he needs his contract to be on a fixed basis and not as a percentage !

Jo did well to turn it round.

Felt for Lissey losing 10-7 in the MTB, she really gave it everything. Maia played better than at the progress Tour. Lissey should be able to get into the top 500 when the tour resumes I think. Think she benefitted from sitting with Judy
