I can also see these threads getting confusing with so many different tournaments going on, haha, but I just saw that Tennis on Telly lad tweet that this Progress event will have Rob Curling, Nick Lester, Gigi Salmon and Naomi Cavaday all involved, so with confirmation of the BBC online coverage, it's fanstastic that the women have got an event which may well end up similar to what the men had with the BotB. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed watching the British Tour matches on YouTube, and am really interested in the Emma vs Marni match tomorrow, but this is going to feel a lot more important. Good stuff.

I've absolutely NO idea which tour is which, or why, or where, or anything really....

I tried googling the other one (UK Pro?) and found nothing.....and am lost on this one too.

I'm just hoping some sympathetic posters on this forum put up details of streams and links, and whatever..... thanks in advance !

In lieu of ace list of who is playing where, and dont forget the men as well please Ace.

It seemed maybe a summary of what weve got going on would be worth doing?

There are currently 8 weeks of events planned as follows:

Week 1 was the Battle of Brits mens event last week that Dan won in singles and Jamie and Neal in doubles. This was indoor hard at the NTC. Jamie Murray organised this.

Week 2 through to week 5 is 4 weeks of the British Tour Summer Series events, the first of those was the one thos week which Emma won the ladies and Arthur Fery the mens. These are 16 player events each week, mens and womens, all at the NTC on outdoor hard courts. The womens are following a run of premier level this week, tier 1 in weeks 3 and 4 and premier again week 5. Men had tier 1, then premier, tier 1 again and then premier again. When the week is a premier week, they also have doubles eg for the ladies today. This is linked to the normal year round British Tour and the LTA organised it.

Week 3 to 8 is the UK Pro Series events. These are all at St George's Hill , Weybridge, on hardcourts. The first 5 weeks are all 12 players events, men and women, in two round robin groups, and then semis and finals and positional play offs. Each week players accumulate points. The winners of the first 5 weeks, plus 5 top points scorers and 2 wildcards each get into the final Classic week, which is in the final week and is a 12 player event again , effectively a masters event. This is privately organised by some chap linked to IMG and Jamie Delgado is involved. This has $400k of prizemoney over the 6 weeks I think.

Finally in week 4 of this series of events, which is starting WC 13th July we have the Progress Tour Womens Championship. This is a womens only event at the NTC, and is 16 players in singles split into two divisions of 8 and again played in round robin groups in the divisions. There is also an 8 pair doubles field. This event is organised by Barry Fulcher of the Progress Tour and hence the event name. It is slightly misleading as it gives the impression of  series of events, but It is a one off event that is more aligned to the Battle of the Brits mens event. The Progress Tour of course does normally take place as a tour and provides wild cards to itf events in the UK , and they were also involved with Jamie Murray in his planned doubles series events, presumably those are now postponed til next year.

I hope that helps! If I've got anything wrong please shout. Info and links to the uk pro series and progress tour do seem to be hard to find. What might be good is a thread somewhere with links to events as it is often hard to find them when these pages get to 10 or 20 pages long!

Excellent summary - many thanks, Jon. (And, yes, there might be call for a separate 'info' thread, or a week by week thread in the GB entries and rankings thread, as previously). Looking forward to tennis !

Yes, thanks for the summary Jon - certainly a lot of tennis to keep us entertained. Regarding the aforementioned list, I wasn't actually meaning anything official like a Google Doc type to upload on here, I was basically just piling a few names down on a page for reference, ha.

I was confused from the link as to whether the format means 4 groups of 4 in Round Robin, with top one in each group into the semi-finals, or whether the fact that they have mentioned 8 in a Premier Event and 8 in Division One means, the top 2 in each group going through to two lots of semi-finals and the 2 events running completely separately from each other.

Sounds like quite a bit of tennis on show, with that amount of players and matches.

I also wonder if they have two different events of 8 players each, whether they will select who is in which event simply by rankings, or will use other criteria?.

Does anyone have a definitive answer to this; I am hoping Naomi is in the Premier event, but the cut off looks like she will be in Division One.

I do prefer the round robin format for these level tournaments. Ensures that some of the lesser players get some matches, particularly if their 1st opponenet is ranked significantly higher. I think a Fast 4 format for 15k qualifying would be better than the current knockout system, maybe lose a round in the main tournament and have more in qualifying.

Hi Andy, there was some debate on this on another thread and input was it was two divisions of 8 ie separate events, so naomi is in the 2nd tier event....

Thanks too for the summary, Jon. I was another who hadn't a clue what was going on and had also tried to look up this morning to understand the difference between the ongoing LTA organisedBritish Tour events, and the UK Pro Series events.

The normal - well, previously normal - LTA funded 25k etc events were also called GB Pro Series events, so that was especially confusing with regard to these independent Weybridge events...

Thanks Jon for confirming what I suspected to be the case - the press release on this would have been a lot better if it had been more explicit. I thought it was probably going to be 2 events - it is lovely to see so many British players in one tournament, but I would have much preferred to have seen all 16 go head to head, and if there was a Round Robin all players would have still played at least 3 matches. Some of the youngsters might have caused surprises and it would have been interesting to see how Naomi would have fared against the novices and current best ranked players.

Anyway I am still looking forward to it - the Red Button will mean only one match being shown at a time of course, but maybe it will be on the BBC's online coverage, and they will do what they do in other events such as snooker, and show the other matches that aren't on the Red Button. I can also record the Red Button, on the TV system I have, which is great for someone working long hours, like myself.

Thanks for the updates Telstar. I think Fran withdrew a while ago, but I knew someone else must have withdrawn in that group as Barnett was originally meant to be in the second tier, but has obviously been boosted up. I thought it might have been Eden, but Emma it is.

It's pretty hard to keep up. Nell Miller playing here is another blow to the SGH event, as she was one of the very few players I was going to be looking out for in that event.

Are Naomi Broady, Emily Appleton, Emma Raducanu and Fran Jones playing SGH or injured?
