Are Naomi Broady, Emily Appleton, Emma Raducanu and Fran Jones playing SGH or injured?

Emily Appleton withdrew a few days ago in order to play SGH. Fran Jones withdrew from PT a week or so ago-presumably injured. We'll have to see whether Emma Raducanu and/or Naomi Broady appear as wild cards at SGH.

Would be strange if those two accepted and appeared as WC in SGH in the same week that the PT is on;  especially given the amount of publicity that has been going on. PT has been (and is being) sold as the equivalent of the men's Battle of the Brits; with the intention of showcasing the best of British Women's tennis.  But who knows?

I haven't been following alot of this, so can someone please tell me what SGH is. I was really looking forward to this tournament, and now it seems like quite a few of our players aren't playing it.

 Hi Helen

SGH IS St Georges hill.  Theres effectively 4 series of events taking place:

Battle of Brits - jamie organised and took place a couple of weeks back and he has a mixed team event at end of July

British Tour - at NTC,  4 weeks of 16 player events, final of week 2 today.

Progress Tour - this event, women only, 16 players also at NTC this coming week.

UK pro series - this is SGH,  started this week, over 6 weeks , 12 men and women each week and in direct competition with progress tour and british tour. SGH has the biggest money though but impact is diluted fields, plus side is plenty of opportunity for all. Week 1 finals are today.

Thanks Jon. I'd only got as far as the first three and was looking forward to the Progress tour and seeing Emma, so gutted to hear that there will now be less players I follow there.

Having said that, the uk pro series is streamed live each day and is Monday to sunday each week . It's on the lta you tube site. The 12 players each play in groups of 6 and play first 5 days as round Robin groups, then play offs and finals over the weekend. So each player will play 7 days straight.

So between british tour, progress event and uk pro event, you'll see your favourites somewhere or other !

I think many will be feeling the same Helen. The first tier is still pretty strong, but Emma will be a massive miss. I was looking forward to seeing how she'd potential match up with the likes of Katie B, Harriet (more than 2 years on from their last meeting), and also Heather.

Yes exactly, I saw her on the Wirral few years back and wanted to see how she matched up to our top girls. Hey ho..

Heather,KatieB. and Harriet seem to have been drawn in the same group. How have they managed that?

Telstar had the group's as follows the other day:

Watson, Lumsden, Barnett, Murray-Sharan
Dart, Boulter, Silva, Burrage

But I see Katie S has actually replaced Sam, so Katie is in that group with Heather now, so Heather, Maia, Lissey, and Katie S in s group.

Didn't even realise Katie was allowed back in the country, but that's helped the tournament from my POV. Not sure what's up with Sam, and if I'll or injured, wish her well, but nice surprise to see Katie involved.

Like the mens, I think they drew them in pairs so 1 and 2, 3 and 4, etc. Into groups. So you could have had 1, 3 , 5, 7 or any relevant combo. As opposed to keeping names apart.

The Heather group that telstar gave would have been 1, 3, 5, 8 And rather conveniently Katie S would have been #3 just as Sam was so they actually keep that order.

This may be a stupid comment but all the leading ladies seem to have entered with the exception  of  Johanna Konta. Why did she not enter in view of the fact that all the leading men played in Jamie Murray's competition and all the leading ladies are here?

But does anyone know the status with Katie S, or indeed the US-UK situation? Are there regular flights running now, and has Katie been in the UK a while now? Wasn't expecting that at all.

Presumably Katie came and spent two weeks in quarantine after returning from usa?
