We can only speculate why. The knee is the obvious one. Only Jo herself knows the answer. Isn't she signed up for the next Jamie tournament, the mixed one?

Me either to be honest. But I guess because we are normal people and athletes are not. There's also Neal, Ken, Wardy etc playing the world tennis thingy and they must've been able to travel over from the UK to US, as some of them we defintely in the UK.

Anyway, either way (UK to US / US to UK) you're supposed to self isolate for 14 days.

I think it says something about her playing in Jamie's mixed tournament but it didn't say she'd actually signed up to play.

I've looked at the sections on an e-mail from a tennis friend. I realise now that there is a Premier Group of the 8 top players and a Division 1 group of the next 8.(excluding those who are not competing) So obviously if Heather and Harriet were leaders in their sections then Katie B. would have to play one or other of them .

It will be the same field as the Premier tier of the Progress Tour-assuming they wish to play and are still standing. Pretty ridiculous that yet another money tournament is being shoe-horned into an overcrowded schedule. My suspicion is that by the end of July there'll only be about two British women players still fit to play! So far down, although maybe not yet out, are: Sam Murray Sharan, Emma Raducanu, Eden Silva, Amarni Banks, Tanysha Dissanayake, Danielle Daley, Kim Mpukusa to add to Fran Jones, Katy Dunne and probably Jo Konta. By next weekend, Lissey Barnett, Naomi Broady, Beth Grey and Eliz Maloney will have played matches on 14 consecutive days while Jodie Burrage will have played for 16 and Emily Appleton (who has played with elbow strapping from the outset) will have played for 17 consecutive days. Who (players, coaches and above all, governing body) can possibly think that this is a good idea? I think it might be worth changing the header for these events to 'They Shoot Horses, Don't They?'

Eden Silva and Danielle are listed in the Progress Tour, and though a different event Mpukusa is listed in next weeks SGH, but maybe I misunderstand the 'down' bit above.

And entry for the events are voluntary. Im sure the players are able to decide whether or not to enter an event. Although , the financial incentive is tempting!

That is really my point. Players who have been unable to play for three or four months are being offered relatively huge amounts of prize money but have to play day after day-basically at the behest of streaming companies who sell the product to bookmakers. I don't blame the players who are tempted but I do blame the governing body which sanctions these events.

Just checking, this event is indoors, correct? I put indoor in the title, but cant recall seeing it? With 8 singles and 4 doubles a day, presumably they are using 2 courts? 3 round Robin matches would take us tuesday to thursday, the tie break tens on Friday and then semis Saturday and Sunday.

Is that the correct schedule?
