Trump

I always thought there would be issues with the transition from Trump to Biden, but what I am seeing tonight is jaw dropping.

Trump has just told the people that stormed the Capitol Building and carried two pipe bombs into the RNC and DNC, that "he loves them and they are very special people".

The Senate should invoke the 25th Amendment right now and Trump should be prosecuted for inciting insurrection. Sorry, but the gloves have to come off - politically and legally.

Edit

For those that haven't seen the clip I am referring to, he is Trump speaking (indirectly) to the rioters.

I have said previously that whatever alleged crimes Trump has committed in the past he should not be pursued because it is time to move on from him and his ego as much as possible.

But gee, there are limits !! What we have seen today would have previously seemed absolutely incredible but in the current environment something like it was a fairly inevitable consequence of his lies and incitement over the past weeks.

My USA colleagues said Trumps various social media accounts have been removed. About time!! the man is dangerous and delusional. They also think a rarely used law could be used to remove him from office......

Time and time again you think Trump cannot shock any more, and he does.

I was wondering today though where he goes from here. Yesterday proved he has tens of millions of Americans who believe/follow him. He'll soon be out of a job, Is he just going to play golf quietly, I dont think so. Could he become a Farage type figure (but several times bigger) rallying people from the outside? He is so delusional I just cant see him slipping into ex-President and putting his feet up???

Mark Zuckerberg has banned him from Facebook and Instagram, at least until after the handover of power to Biden.

His Twitter suspension has technically run out as it was due to last for 12 hours but I don't know if they have renewed the ban or let him loose again.

And in the protect your back race Trump abandons the supporters that he incited and more White House sycophants abandon their posts and the president that they indulged for so long.

Trump is wetting himself that his antics will get him kicked out before he gets his own and his family's pardons through.

Yep, the supporters are hung up to dry but do we have sympathy???? Do we heck.....

U say this without malice, and mean no offence: none of you have any idea what you're talking about.

This hasn't even begun yet.

This is what is coming:
ErLOHVHXEAARGf7?format=jpg  oooo ErLLGPJVoAESmMg?format=jpg&name=small

From their point of view, the operation on the 6th was a complete success.

They showed that, even unarmed, they could takeover the Capitol and 6 other State Houses around the country, on a single day.
They will be armed next time and they don't care about gun regulations because they believe them to be a violation of their 2nd Amendment rights.

They want a cull, Cambodia style. Do you think I'm still being melodramatic? I said explicitly, in this thread on Sunday that they were going to storm the Capitol on the 6th.

Trump has endorsed them again, the GOP still voted to oppose certification of the election, even after the riots, 2/3 of all congressional Republicans still opposed at least one slate of electors.
Matt Gaetz stood on the floor of the Senate, with broken windows and debris around him from earlier in the day when he himself had been forced to lie down on the floor of the chamber for safety, and baselessly claimed that the events of that day were due to ANTIFA infiltration, not in any way to Trump elements.
FOX and all major conservative media outlets parroted these claims as their primary story of the day, on the massively popular shows like Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Laura Ingraham, who hold more influence over conservative opinion shaping than politicians all made that their lead. Newsmax, OANN and RSP went even further.
Trump's Lawyer, Lin Wood is calling for firing squads on Parler to hundreds of thousands of affirmations.
In a Morning Consult Poll of 6K respondents yesterday, even after the death of the policeman, and the 5 other deaths were known, 48% of Republicans said they 'strongly agreed' with all of the actions in the storming of the Capitol. Only 43% said they disagreed to any extent.
They lowered the Stars & Stripes at the Capitol and raised a Trump flag in it's place; they paraded they flag of the Confederacy throughout the halls of government - that never happened even once during the civil war or history - and still they approve by plurality.

The Police voted for Trump 84%.
The rank and file military voted for Trump 82%.

Now is the time, if you are rational, if you are sensible, to be afraid.

You have no idea what you're talking about.
But, someone in the UK had better get up to speed very quickly because Boris criticised Trump, and grievance and vengeance are the driving forces here, and if they seize power, they will make you pay more than just a pound of flesh. They have long and unforgiving memories, and no restraint on how they treat those that do not fall immediately into obediance.

Here is how they treat a sitting Republican Senator today, in public, one who had been unfailingly, almost slavishly loyal to Trump, during his Presidency. until yesterday when he condemned him

That is also what it it like in my small rural home town, if you show any wavering from absolute monolithic purity in your devotion to Trump. The same is true in many rural counties and Trump districts around the country. We are having to leave for safety, probably never to return.

Wake up, please.

Please don't stop posting about America smile

That's why we have a Trump thread ! And Brexit. And indeed all general chat threads - it's not like hijacking a tennis one.

It's very interesting to read your posts. Please keep 'em coming.

I agree with CD, this situation is frightening to us, youre correct we dont have the insight or knowledge. We fear youre being melodramatic and hope youre wrong, but we read and do take it in. So please do continue, but we will also hope youre wrong!

and lets not forget, the rise of populism and the right is happening everywhere across the west. The uk is not immune. fascism Is not far away from you and us and we need to be careful and watch out.

Heres the question- how welcome will foreign visitors , Brits, be in the future. Not from the authorities but from the people? Is the MAGA movement anti anything not from America and should we be worried ?
