Wow, just looked at the point to point breakdown. The boys got more than a little help in that final set turn around. There was an absolute DF collapse in the Bublik serve.

In the third set Joe & Rajeev were 1-3* 15-15 down. The Kazakhs had been pretty secure on serve, were to finish with 9 aces and at that point had only been broken once and had served just one DF ( by Bublik in the opening game of the final set ).

Bublik then served 3 successive DFs to be broken to 15. *2-3

Next 3 service games ( Ram, Kukushkin, Salisbury ) were all won to 15. 4-4*

Bublik serving : the 8 points went - forced error from Joe+, DF, forced error from Joe+, DF, DF, Ace, DF, DF. Yes, all 5 Joe+ points were DFs. 8 DFs in his last 11 serves from Bublik. *5-4

Ram serving, they won the final game to love, 6-4

Game, set & match !

Nothing suspicious whatsoever about poor Bublik's serving, it's nothing more that a Jimmy White / World championship final style choke.

You see it all the time, Jamie served four consecutive double faults eventually costing them the game playing with his bro in a masters a few years ago. Ram did it here last year (or year before?), I remember highlighting it at the time. Groth bottled it in the semi of the French a few years ago, I could go on and on.

No criticism intended here whatsoever, it happens, the pressure builds, the adrenalin surges, the blood pumps faster, you loose your mind (sort of), that's sport!

Good luck to Joe and Raj in the final. I watched Dodig and Polasek roast the Byan's in R3, so if the Aussie pair are good enough to beat them this could be a very close final. Who knows, I might come down to who holds their nerve best?

I think Saville has a lot of recognised talent, twice a junior slam winner in singles (AO and Wimbledon) but has never made it at senior level really. He and Purcell have a host of titles the past 9 months in Challenger Doubles, as pointed out by someone before, and with the crowd behind them, this will be a tough old match!

Amazed to see no comments here but wake up to find joe Salisbury is a grand slam champion and top 4 in the world!

Well deserved, let's see if joe and rajeev can move onto to be the top pair this year!

Yes I'm a bit surprised too. I'm currently in SE Asia but this was over so fast I missed it so can't comment on the match itself, but the scoreline suggests a relatively easy win especially the final set. Huge congrats to Joe, this is a big, big moment for him... Top 4 in the world, it's massive
