This is proving to be a good week for Wardy. That win puts him back into the top 300 and if he could reach the final here, he would be above Jan Choinski in the rankings.

Yes, great to see him string some good results together, and nice to get an easier win today, than those 'down to the wire' ones before.

Not much to note, Shhh, sorry but for what it's worth........Kyrian Jacquet is born 2001, and he was one of the cohort of good youngsters, without - as far as I know - being the stand out one. He played in France's European Summer Cup team, for instance. And made the last 16 of the national championships in 2018 (they changed the system last year, it's all messed up, so I'm not sure what happened in 2019). 

So, I might be wrong but I don't think he's a really scary young star.

The French do love a good protest !

Protests and strikes are part of the fabric of life. A sort of social activity. You can probably get a grant for them.

When my son came to England, there was a strike on the tubes, and there were tons of 'public advice' adverts up, about not panicking, carrying a water bottle with you, letting your family know where you are etc. etc.

He found it VERY funny.

Excellent win for James

7-5 3-6 6-3

Played some decent tennis, and quite smart. Allowed the youngster to blow up slightly in the third.

I got so confused there - I was thinking how can there be 4 seeds left if James has got to the semis and hes unseeded!?

It's straightforward enough.  The matches in the bottom half of the draw (James's half) were played before those in the top half.  The two seeds left in the bottom half were drawn to play one another & Petrovic prevailed.  There were three seeds left in the top half QFs, two of them (Kamke & Ortega) playing one another, the third (Ilkel) a non-seed, so only two could, in theory, go through to the SF.  As it happens, Kamke (13) beat Ortega (12), while Ilkel (15) lost out to the French non-seed, Rinderknech.  Consequently, only two seeds now remain in the draw.   wink

Dino seems to be on a roll:  first set in the bag by 7-6(7).

What a super result

A win in two sets, over the WR 166. And very clutch tennis too - it was terribly tight.
