As expected whenever Hev wins the 1st set, we're now into a 3rd
I make it a grand total of just 3 previous times this season that Heather has lost the 2nd set after winning the 1st, once her very first match of the season.
In these she was W1 L2 in winning the 3rd set.
Here she is 3-4* in the 3rd.
4 occassions in half a season is not insignificant. My general feeling with most Heather Watson matches, is that it's going to be a 3 setter and a frustrating watch.

Hmm, I'll pass on arguing significance, but anyway 9 out of 27 of her matches this season have gone to 3 sets ( 4 out of 12 in which she won the first set and 5 out of 15 in which she lost the first set ). So a third of her matches, win or lose the first set.
Of these 9 three setters, she has now won 3, lost 6, so yes that's a bit frustrating.
I don't know how Birmingham works as I've never been there, but assuming nobody with court 1 tickets have been messed about, it's good that this match has been moved to the main court. Looks a very good crowd.

In the last few years, assuming nothing's changed, you must buy a seat for centre court then get full access to the other 4 courts via a raised walkway at no extra costs.
So nobody would have been messed about. I checked Eurosport are showing a repeat of Jo's match, and they refuse to show this live doubles! that makes me cross, though I can see that people who were at work earlier will be glad to catch up.
I think they should have put this match and Heather's on the centre in the first place.
Harriet won most of those seven points with excellent shots but they somehow didn't win.
I must admit, I wasn't all that impressed with Venus today, just a shadow of her former self, and didn't look match-fit. Have to see what the singles brings.
Harriet, on the other hand, seems to improve every time I see her play.
