Week 24 - WTA International Nature Valley Open ($250k) - Nottingham, Great Britain - Grass

I'm pleased Maia won, spread those points around a bit. 18 for Tara is still a very good return for someone with her ranking. It's basically the equivalent of losing in a W25 semi final.

Very tough task for Maia next, but she officially has a WTA main draw win now. Hopefully she can last a bit longer than Naiktha on court tomorrow against Cato G. With no spectators watching (so the tournament doesn't really lose anything with name value) it is kind of a shame that it was the seeded Yastremska withdrawing in this section instead of Garcia, as Rodina would have been drafted in there and there would have been a decent chance of an all GB clash in R2. As it is, Garcia might never get a more straightforward path through the early stages of a WTA draw.

So Maia gets to play Garcia. Best of luck, Maia !

Im, sure she won't mind.  30 points for one win against Tara and she can now enjoy the next round with nothing to lose.

Schedule says 1130 am start on the indoor courts, looks like they are using 3 indoor courts at the Nottingham tennis centre and then men are using 2 courts at Trent. Looks like the grass is scheduled for 1 pm start currently , presumably that is a watching brief.

Harriet has recovered very well from her start. She only won 2 points in opening 2 games, but has since held, broken and held. 3-2*

Well, I didn't think Eurosport would be showing the indoor matches, but they are showing Harriet's match.

Tomljanovic is playing very well - it's going to be difficult to get a break.
