Week 24 - Challenger (€137,560+H) - Nature Valley Open, Nottingham, Great Britain (grass)

Travelling down east coast mainline today and through Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire area currently, seems dry if overcast. If it keeps this way play should be possible at least on the courts that are covered. Not sure of forecast today

Paul lost 5-7 5-7

But close, against a top seed, and decent showing.

I waa a bit worried that I had set Ryan up for a fall when he went *15-40 down when serving for it in the final game.

Cracking win, that!

L32:  (Q) Ryan Peniston WR 681 vs (2) Bernard Tomic WR 88 (CH = 11 in January 2016)

What an experience for him to take on the former world N° 11.  Nowt to lose...

Ryan takes the first set on the tie-break, 7-6(2).  Even if he ultimately loses the next two, he'll always have the memory of taking a set off a former world N° 11!  smile

Ryan has 73 percent first serves in and that seems to be difference. Excellent performance

Ryan has won by retirement. He broke in the opening game of the 2nd set and Tomic pulled out.

Edit

That should not detract from what must have been an excellent performance from Ryan to take the 1st set.
