Lost 6-7(6) in the 3rd and to make matters worse, she took a fall when trying to save match point. She got up but was hobbling a bit.
Not sure what to say about that, obviously great battling and competing against a top 100 player, but those 4 MPs will hurt and hopefully no repercussions from the ending.
She looked a bit crock even before the fall. Although that might be fatigue or cramp, given neatly three hours of play.
But with her history of horrid ankle problems, you've got to pray its not that.
As you say, the addict, I doubt she'll think there's any positives from that. Although, in the big picture, there has to be.....

Jodie was limping early in the TB I think she's strained something or has a blister or had something from a bit earlier in the match.
Close, but somehow she seemed hesitant when at the line and was unconvincing on all her MPs, never quite looked like she really believed she could win the damn match.
I have been told that the cut off for the doubles was CR200 which is pretty low. Although that is based on best of singles/doubles rankings.
Last acceptance was Golubic & Neel, which looks to be an entry ranking of 232 (Singles 79 + Doubles 153).
I see the official draw sheet lists the rankings - but they are based on doubles only, which makes it all look pretty weird !
For example Jorovik and Smitkova have a CR of 918, but their entry ranking was totally based on their singles CR222
Allowing singles players to enter doubles events on their singles rankings is totally crazy. Doubles and singles are different games requiring different skills. If the ITF believe the skills to be interchangeable then, to be consistent, high ranked doubles players should be allowed to enter any singles event which they wish! Doubles specialists should rise up and complain about this nonsense!

Pity re the end to Jodie'a battling performance. It sounds that with a bit more belief when she was up ( a very important aspect ) she might have got across the line for another good win. The most important thing now is let's hope that she's fit and well going forward through the coming weeks. All the best.

I wish she'd cut the habit of berating herself after each error she makes. She served several DFs, and invariably hit her shoes with her racket after doing so. You can just see her opponent thinking, 'oh good'. Frankly I thought the major difference between Lapko and Jodie was simply body language. Even when she was down, Lapko looked purposeful, and you could see her thinking, 'I'm not out of this'. Jodie was the opposite, never seemed to quite believe in herself, and didn't seem fully ready to seize the moment on her MPs either. On one at least, on her service, she had a good opportunity to close it out, but hit a passive shot, let Lapko back into the rally, and then made an error. Lapko in contrast took opportunities when given them. Jodie played well, has plenty of potential, but now simply has to see herself as a better player, and adjust her temperament accordingly.
Because of the rain there are 43 matches to be played tomorrow. Also of note: not one women's match - not even Heather! - is on the main court which is very poor for a combined event and a "home" one as well. Tomic vs Paul is a curious choice to start play, even with the contingent of Aussies around
