Big hold from Jodie to stop Lapko winning 4 games in a row, had to save a couple of BPs. 5-4*.

Lapko has persuaded the umpire to suspend the match with Jodie at 1-1 40-0.

I was wondering why the live scores had frozen - sounds like it's going to be one of those days.

First set went 7-5, that's disappointing from a leading position

...but lost her next service game and the set 5-7
Too many DFs for Jodie at the moment. Had 6 in the first set, and often seemed to get her into trouble as a result. 7 aces the positive, but she didn't build on the positive start, just a few too many errors including with the DFs.

She's in the same position as the 1st set. JB hold, VL hold, JB hold, JB break. *3-1.

And another JB hold, 4-1*. Hopefully not 6 games from 7 again for Lapko.

At least Jodie's double faults are (practically all) aggressive ones that she has only just missed. And her serve is a weapon. So she's right to try and use it. I'm sure her coach has told her to be more aggressive on her second serve and he/she's not wrong. Of course it's a balance but she's lost lots of other points too, DFs only count as part of all the points lost.

A more serious problem is when she reverts to more passive hitting and then tries dinks and drop shots. And then gets cross with herself because she knows she shouldn't play like that but it's reflex.

And it's the tournament referee's nightmare - just when the weather forecast is really dodgy, Jodie decides to save MPs, and finally take the tie-break, and they've played two hours and now have a third set to play....

Lapko has lost 11 of her last 13 matches and has fallen down the rankings a bit this year (still top 100) so she can't be that high on confidence at the moment, and hopefully those 3 MPs coming and going will add to that.

Em/Katy miss two set points (tbf their opponents played them perfectly)

5-5*

Katy double faulted twice at 30-0 which kinda killed it.

Broke, and served for it again at 6-5 - and were broken again. But take the tie-break 7-4. Hopefully they are more settled as a partnership now - only came together at sign-in yesterday !

Jodie's turn to not take MPs, 2 of them, and a DF hands the break back to Lapko. 5-5*.

4 MPs cone and go, 3 on serve. 6-6* in the TB.
