General football thread

Despite being sceptical when it started (Qatar, in winter?) I have enjoyed this World Cup so far. Mainly watched highlights
And the evening games due to work, its hard to think weve only been playing a few days with games
Coming at 4 a day.

Looking forward to England again tomorrow evening !

I did look forward to England - but not sure I should have bothered. At least we are effectively through to the knockout stages

When did they introduce this nonsense about GD and goals scored coming before H2H? Much more interesting if H2H came next after points

Actually I do generally prefer the way it is now.

Getting plenty 0-0 draws ( intermingled with some big scores ). I recall it took ages to get a 0-0 draw in Russia.

FA Cup draw:

Cardiff vs Leeds

Not very enthralling, but a couple of interesting stats. This is the 10th consecutive away tie for Leeds in the FA Cup. This has only happened once before with Stockport holding the record at 11 away ties in a row.

In fact we have now been drawn away on 30 occasions in our last 36 ties. Not sure what the odds are on that but I probably have a better chance of winning the Euromillions.

Concentrate on the league, I think.

What a horrible question from an Iranian journalist but an incredibly mature answer from the USA captain, Tyler Adams, who is just 23 years old.

We are lucky to have him at Leeds.

Very sad news, but I think we have been expecting it.

The true legend that was Pele has left us today.

The whole of Brazil and the footballing world will be in mourning - and rightly so. He was as much as an inspiration off the pitch as he was on it.

Rest in Peace.

So sad to hear about the passing of Gianluca Vialli today, at just 58 years old. As well as being a very talented footballer, he just came across as a really genuine guy.

So we didnt win away against Liverpool in the cup because this was given offside. Anyone??????? The lino just randomly put his flag up after the goal went in for reasons we are not sure and VAR couldnt overturn it because apparently they didnt have a camera for this one.

Been watching Brighton for 50 years and that was the best I have ever seen us play. Perfection.

No mention of Man U's controversial goal which changed the match....
Should never have been given, clear interference.

Ah, having just seen it, I came on to say much the same.

Absolute farce that it was allowed and that the referees' association issued a statement trying to justify an embarrassing decision.

Ludicrous decision to give that goal.
