General football thread

The world of football reporting has sadly lost two greats in the last couple of days.

Dickie Davis passed away earlier this week and this morning sources have confirmed the passing of John Motson. Was there ever a better commentator ?

Free bet to win £250 ( in bets ) if I could get the right score in 4 of rhe FA Cup ties.

Fulham 2 Leeds 0 - tick
Bristol City 0.Manchester City 3 - tick
Manchester United 3 West Ham 1 - tick

... and Sheffield United 1 Spurs 2

Ah, so instead £10 in bets for a very respectable 3/4. It would have been rather more annoying when Kane missed right at the end, after the other 3 had come in, if it had been 1-1 at the time.

Elsewhere, seagull will no doubt be a happy chappee, Brighton home to Grimsby in the QF.

Yes could not ask for a better draw than that. I'm old enough to have gone to the 1983 cup final (and Smith must score and all that)...

If you get a chance to watch MOTD tonight please tell me how it is possible for Brighton to have been robbed by the officials so blatantly today. Absolutely shocking. I guess teams like us are not welcome in the elite.

I never usually moan about decisions but this was different level.

Why am I spending time money and effort to go to these games to witness that.

Oof.  Ref watch is going to be interesting this week.  They might have to extend the show.

Still work to do, but top 4 is getting tantalisingly close for Eddie Howe's mags. 6 points and 10 goals from 2 potentially tricky matches.

Seagull's boys letting us down against Forest this week was a huge disappointment.

It seems those at the bottom just dont want to stay up in the main! Leeds best chance is all those below us are not doing the business. Everton losing 4-1 at home was ridiculous.

At this stage defences are key and picking up draws when others lose is vital - losing by scores like that or like Leeds have lost recently is criminal really!

 Hangover from Wembley I'm afraid.

We have a very small squad and the most number of games to play.

Well done to Inverness for reaching the Scottish cup final today - remarkable as well that they got knocked out earlier in the cup and reinstated after their opponents had fielded an ineligible player! A sort of football lucky loser!
