I'm dissapointed, JonH. We did you a favour by winning at Crawley but you failed to return it by only drawing with Sutton. wink

I know, what a disappointment! If wed held on wed have been 1 point off play offs, instead we are 3 points off now with just 2 games left. Still a chance, I guess, and there are 6 teams in with a shout of that last play off but we are the team in 12th and probably have the most outside chance of those 6.

disappointing day for sure.

bet365 are offering 100/1 against Harrogate making the play-offs. But hey still >  0 with just 2 matches left.

Certainly looks like you will need to win these last 2 games and then just hope for a series of other results that let you sneak in ahead of Creepy Crawley et al.

On the other hand I see that TA's Colchester won again ( vs Grimsby ) and are 4 points clear of Sutton with Forest Green gone. So looking good for them escaping.

Though I see that it's Sutton vs Crawley on Saturday. They can't both lose!

I know, I thought Crawley were going to lose and Walsall might just draw last night at around mid way through, but it didnt quite work out that way!

Points are:

7. Crawley 66

8. Walsall 65

9. Donny Rovers 64 (3 games left)

10. Gillingham 63

11. Wimbledon 62

12. Gate 62

13. Bradford 60 (3 games left)

Still quite tight, Donny and Bradford both have 3 games to play, the rest just 2. Nothing other than 2 wins for Harrogate, home to MK Dons and away to Salford is going to be enough with our poor goal difference; and it still then needs Crawley and the rest to largely mess up.

I think we are done for - but nonetheless, to still be in the running until the last 2 games of the season is quite a thing for 'gate and we have also beaten our record points finish in EFL2 (best to date was 57 in 20/21) and got our highest position ever (best was 17th in 20/21), so it can be said to have been a successful league season overall.

With the third smallest budget in the division, it isnt bad really. The club lost £2m or so last season, however, in financials just released. I think a lot of that was ground improvements, so capital spend, so hopefully we arent in danger of breaching FFP regulations

Yes it's quite a shock. Partly self-inflicted though with the appointment of Wayne Rooney after sacking John Eustace when they were in a play off position. Really unlucky with Tony Mowbray getting ill. They would almost certainly stayed up if he'd been manager for the rest of the season. Hopefully he'll be better soon, he seems like a really nice guy.

They've got new owners so they can get back to the drawing board in League 1 and maybe even repeat Ipswich's efforts. Their recruitment needs to improve though. They've taken four ex-QPR players this season: Laird, Roberts, Dozzell and Sanderson (although he was formally at Birmingham) and certainly the first three have all shown to not have much fighting spirit, which is why QPR fans were relieved to see them all go. All talented players but flatter to deceive.

Well done Ipswich. What an achievement. Hope they and their fans have a decent time in the Premiership and they can hang onto their manager, who's done a phenomenal job. He, Danny Rohl and Marti Cifuentes have been a breath of fresh air in the Championship this season. I can see all three going onto bigger things.

Also looking forward to the play offs this year. Should be really competitive. You'd think Leeds would walk it but they've had a bad run of form recently. The other three teams must be thinking they're in with a chance.

Birmingham may have been relegated, but one of their fans is definitely up for a playing contract with somebody.  biggrinbiggrin

I see Spartans beat Peterhead 7-2 in their play off match and then lost the first left of the final away to Dumbarton, 2-1. Second leg at home, must have a good chance! Come on The Spartans !

Blyth Spartans are not The Spartans.

I might get to The Spartans game tonight, though I'm pretty busy before I leave tomorrow for a week in Aviemore ( and they are not quite as local to me as they used to be since I have recently moved elsewhere in Edinburgh ).

I'll report back if I do make it.

I won't make that game. Too much other stuff to do.

I have actually moved to Newington area, near Surgeons' Hall.
