In the semis, Naomi beat Ella easily, 1&2

Bit of a height difference there.

Also Laura vs Naomi was a USO R1 2 1/2 yearsago, bit of a difference in surroundings.

Alice Gillan has won the other semi, just, against Vicki Allen, 3-6 6-4 6-4

That'll be a nice little earner for Alice, £850, even if she loses against Naomi, which - of course - is no way guaranteed.

That's a very good win for Alice, I had expected Vicki to win, after she beat Freya yesterday. Hope Maia is ok, or at least is able to recover for next week, but it's good to see some strong performances here this week. I am sure Victoria will get some sort of WC at Bolton next week, but wonder what sort it will be? As a recap she has 7 WTA points from 2 counters, so needs one more counter to gain a WTA ranking. That would rocket boost her up entry lists since currently she has no ITF ranking whatsover.

Alice Gillan should get a wildcard for Bolton now.
Ella or Vic will get one of the others.

Wildcards for Bolton had to be selected on Wednesday so performance here couldn't have played any part in those decisions. In any case, Alice should be in qualifying by right once withdrawals and wildcards are taken into account.

But if Maia, Jodie and Emma were selected (I'm not sure if Maia was in then) which is probably likely and they don't end up needing one, which could also be likely, they could get passed on - unless of course reserve / back up WCs have to be selected as well?

I'm hoping that Naomi and Laura were both playing well and that there were not too many service breaks.

Naomi's semi-final result would suggest that they were.

Tiff took three long sets to beat Kat Barnes.

Alice beat Eliz very easily.

So Alice v Tiff in the final tomorrow

The normal prize money for a Tier 1 event is: £600 for winner, and £350 for runner-up

But I note that it says:

"There are some events which have increased the prize money stated above e.g Penarth in May, Newcastle & Sutton in August".

I can't find the prize money for Penarth - I've trawled through the event and club websites with no success so far.

Tiff is the defending champion from 2018.

£300 for the SF and £150 for QF

Where enhanced prize money is paid, details are usually in the tournament page on the competition finder.
