Jack must be gutted to have to miss the entire grass season. But he's a wip and still young. Already he's done well and in time no doubt will go further. Let's just wish him well and come back when fit and well.
Does that schedule suggest he will play the US Open as well then? Feels like it...
Does look that way, DC Manchester after that where he now surely merits a start. Fingers crossed for fitness in the coming weeks and the Winnipeg restart. I had searched the same news from random site regarding Winnipeg entry.
Jack isn't alone in having taken a big drop. Just noticed that his NextGen nemesis Nakashima is now ranked 123. Don't know if it's another injury story.
From an ITF report in September this year about Hannah Klugman and the US Open Juniors, just a little shout out to Jack for being 'a good sort'
"While Klugman said she hasnt ever spoken to Raducanu or other young British female players like Katie Boulter, she did get to have lunch here in New York with Jack Draper, who reached the third round of the mens singles.
He was lovely, explaining to me about life in pro tennis, how to prepare, what to expect, Klugman said. It was really helpful."
Article about Jack from yesterday's Metro which has him praising Boris Becker to the high heavens in his current role as Rune's coach & provides a little more information about the UTS finals. It explains why he's chosen the nickname "The Power" for himself...
Becker certainly seems to have helped Rune, and Djokovic has been very praiseworthy of his time with Boris.
In terms of the tennis, an event that should be fun and entertaining. Thats what tennis needs this time of year. Why not?!
They should close the main season mid October, much shorter autumn schedule and allow players to choose to play more of these events with different formats.
And Roger Draper, ex-head of the LTA of whom we have read so many bad things, ends up as the carer of someone with advanced dementia. A wonderful thing to take on such a challenging role.
