Great from Steven to highlight that one of our resident forumite coaches, Matt james, has been working with Emma these past 4 weeks.

(And that Emma has been training with Katie Swan).

Well done, Matt.

And c'mon, Emma !

Big contrast between Emma's response to winning and Jack's in Nigeria. Just a little clap against her racket, and a handshake. Very classy, I think she will have plenty of opportunities to do some screaming and collapsing to the floor in the future. Very pleased for her, a bit like her first ITF junior tournament at 13 on the Wirral she's more than ready for 25K's

She might be ready for 25Ks but with the changes at the end of the year she'll probably need 1 or 2 more 15K finals to be able to get into them. That win takes her up from around 265 in the shadow ITF rankings to around the 120s. Its difficult to be more accurate with no published up to date lists. She'll probably need to be a bit higher to get the 25K places available to top ITF ranked women. I don't think a decent run in Wirral will be enough to give her a WTA ranking that would give her direct entry to 25K qualifying next year.

But that's for the future. For now, it gives her a new CH of what looks like will just about be in the top 700.

Her first ITF junior title was in Liverpool, before it moved over to the Wirral....

I'd forgotten about that. Can you remind me (or post a link) to the new rules. I don't think I took much notice at the time as it wasn't really relevant to anyone I was following.

The muddle is coming slowly back to me....So if Emma gets more than 10 points, she can enter a $25k or above based on her ranking, and 5 places are reserved for players who have only entered $15ks. Makes little sense to me how this helps anyone.
