She might be ready for 25Ks but with the changes at the end of the year she'll probably need 1 or 2 more 15K finals to be able to get into them. That win takes her up from around 265 in the shadow ITF rankings to around the 120s. Its difficult to be more accurate with no published up to date lists. She'll probably need to be a bit higher to get the 25K places available to top ITF ranked women. I don't think a decent run in Wirral will be enough to give her a WTA ranking that would give her direct entry to 25K qualifying next year.

But that's for the future. For now, it gives her a new CH of what looks like will just about be in the top 700.

I'd forgotten about that. Can you remind me (or post a link) to the new rules. I don't think I took much notice at the time as it wasn't really relevant to anyone I was following.

hope you understand more of it than what i do !!!

the shadow rankings are
itf order https://www.tenniseurope.org/file/805667/?dl=1
wta order https://www.tenniseurope.org/file/805668/?dl=1

openerarankings also do lists

The muddle is coming slowly back to me....So if Emma gets more than 10 points, she can enter a $25k or above based on her ranking, and 5 places are reserved for players who have only entered $15ks. Makes little sense to me how this helps anyone.

I think that you are very far from alone !

But maybe enlightenment will come ...

I presume she could just go back to juniors and win some exemptions but strikes me as a bit arse about face and a waste of a year.

Surely she'll get a whole batch of wildcards in the Uk events and after that will almost certainly have a WTA ranking of some note

I'm not entirely sure I'm following you there.

Emma can enter a 25K without a WTA ranking, but would be placed behind any player with a WTA ranking.

25K and above give WTA ranking points, 15Ks give ITF ranking points.
You can enter any tournament with either ranking, but a player with a WTA ranking takes priority over anybody entering with just an ITF ranking, including entry to 15Ks. The 5 players entered into a 25K with the highest ITF ranking not already in the main draw will get one of 5 main draw reserved places.

I suppose the theory is that the most talented players coming through the system get an opportunity to progress faster by not having to qualify for 25Ks.

If Emma gets a WC for Wirral, she would have a WTA ranking at the start of next year which she would use to enter 15Ks or 25Ks and above and her ITF ranking would just be used to determine her position on the reserved places list for 25Ks.
