Felt quite emotional for her when she finally won. It was never a forgone conclusion, based on recent performances. Well done Jo, a bit of milestone, I feel.
Yes plenty of UEs but it still looked much more like the Jo of old. Far more variation - and dare I say it, intelligence - in her play than I've seen most of this year. Gavrilova is a real scrapper in every sense of the word and was not going to give in, her shot after shot retrievals in rallies that Jo was otherwise dominating, often causing Jo to go for that bit more, creating the error. But I much preferred what I saw, whoever is responsible for the wider range of shots, including drops and coming into the net, as well as service variations too.
And yes, it was obvious Bertens had not made Singapore end of her match, which was shown on update, as she immediately smashed her racket. Am very pleased Svitolina has made it in and wish her well, agree with Jon/ Indy on the guaranteed entry, far too much speculative dirty play here in terms of gaming the entries. Jo up to 39 now in live rankings, she's just gone past Venus.

An ugly match but the main thing is Jo won. Its noticeable that she came to the net more . There was a real mix of some great shots and some poor errors .
At the end of the day though all you can do is beat who is infront of you on the day . Jo did have a huge slice of luck at deuce in the final game where her shot hit the net and crept over giving Gavrilova no chance .
Its been a tough year so a lot more luck would be very welcome !

she stil good enouhgh to finish top 50
she may not get back to WR4 but if she starts playing even half decent at all regular shell tick up again
bally anne hev all just about maintain top 50 at the peek of there powers laura a bit difrent as she got injure
very greatful to all them but jo has unlock even more and glad to have her doing so
Ons did follow that Stephens win with another over Kontaveit. Strange to think she had to serve to stay in the match twice in qualifying vs Dart but has now made a Premier semi final. Good look to her and hopefully Harriet can take positives as was previously suggested by Super.
