Cal featuring Jack Molloy and Ben Draper lost comprehensively in the mens final to USC 4-0. They had done exceptionally well to reach the final surprising UCLA in the semis. USC have a bit more fire power. Ben got left high and dry but was well up in his third set, Jack got comprehensively beaten in the 2nd slot against Cukierman.
Paul Jubb is getting all the praise at University of South Carolina although on the ladies side Megan Davies is contributing in both doubles (first off in the 3 slot)?and in the No 4 singles slot to the Womens Tennis team who went a step further and are SEC champions

In the ACC womens final North Carolina beat Duke, two powerhouses of womens college tennis. Ema Lazic is in the very powerful Duke programme (both tennis wise and academically), they recruited very strong freshman last year (straight in at the No 1 and 6 slots), Ema who is a sophomore didnt feature but with two seniors playing hopefully will force her way in next year.
On the Mens side Aswin Lizen played no 6 winning his match very quickly for Virginia but overall it was all for nought as they eventually lost to Wake Forest. The guys in the No 1 and 2 slots at these programmes are all on the cusp between futures and challenger tennis. Soderlund, Gojo, Chrysochos, Nakashima. Chuck in Holte, Geller, Jubb, some west coast Smiths and the NCAA singles will be a very good standard this year.
Liberty is a bit .... er conservative .... by British Higher education standards. Students! Visitors, Teachers are allowed to carry concealed hand guns on campus ... something that is illegal in Virginian state schools.
Wow! I had not heard that aspect - it makes me wonder how much background research some families do before signing up?
Definitely worth doing a bit of research before signing up, there have been a number of posts about the very successful programme at Long Beach State who turn players over at a prolific rate (only one US player on the roster, no Brits anymore), Liberty is very different as are a number of the faith based schools. I had a very interesting discussion with a British Student from BYU who was struggling as she felt others didnt feel she was Morman enough.
It is really important to understand your reasons for going and whether or not that is what the college offers. Tennis, academia and the philosophy of the institution are all important and different people want very different things.
Very interesting to see Emily Arbuthnot after clinching the PAC 12 tittle but playing at No 4 was desperately keen to get back to a screening of Moma Mia II that shes organised at college and has out performed her colleagues academically... ie the tennis is obviously serious but academic success possibly more so?
For others it just the tennis... having also spoken to a young pro (European not British) had been top 350ish when under 20, she actually felt that academics didnt matter so much for the girls.... a very good people person and I am sure she is now making a very good living coaching now.
Better not hug for more than 3 seconds in case you get shot!
The first line of its Wikipedia entry says "Liberty University (LU) is a private evangelical Christian university in Lynchburg, Virginia". So I would have thought a fair amount of research would be particularly advisable.

Only 16 states actually prohibit guns.
23 states leave it up to the colleges.
More & more are allowing it, due to the pro gun lobby.
So if you have a problem with guns, I suggest you do your homework & opt for one of the 16 states, that ban them.
Concealed weapons are not so unusual. Some colleges allow them on site but only locked in glove compartments. Colorado appears to have the most colleges that allow it btw.

South Carolina and Cal were winners yesterday, Cal against Drake (plenty of Brits), Callum McGeoch scoring their only point against another Brit, Ben Draper in the singles 4 slot. Jack and Ben won their doubles match. Paul Jubb cleaned up in doubles and singles no 1 slot for South Carolina. It now gets serious for both teams, South Carolina like to meet no 5 Virginia, Cal play Illinois.
Dan Little won his doubles but after a close first set 7-6 went down in 2 at the No 1 slot as Utah go out to Baylor. Tulane are also out despite the best efforts of Hamid Stuart who won his singles and doubles. TCU panned Harvard to go through.
