A comment by Bouncy to round off his column in today's Metro looking ahead to the USO:
Dan Evans had no ranking when he returned from his drugs ban in April, but he has just won a high-class Challenger event in Vancouver and he's world 226. The ATP won't be keen to make him its coveted Comeback Player of the Year, but the way the Birmingham man's playing, he may have to be considered!
That would be a thing - if Dan can push on in the 4-6 events he might play before end of season, he could get into the mid 100's ranking wise and really give them a headache - I suspect where he is now probably isnt enough on its own but you never know!
Oh the irony, that would be so cool. Go Dan! Even if he makes the list it would be something. I thought I read he was going to Asia next? Does anyone know?

I think it was in the Mike Cation interview in the Dan Evans thread on the players section. I havent listened to it yet, must do that, but Bob in Spain wrote "Some gems in there. Apparently he is getting help from the JTC team and David Felgate will be flying out to join him soon. Evo will be off to Istanbul after his USA trip. " I also read he would be playing Cassis as well but couldnt find that to be honest. He isnt showing in the Cassis list that I saw but would have been too low at cutoff, maybe Seagull has some insight? That is second US Open week; Istanbul is in the Davis Cup week.
Final: (Q) Daniel Evans WR 310 defeated (4) Jason Kubler (AUS) WR 109 by 4-6 7-5 7-6(3)
Dan's a !
US Open R1: Jason Kubler (AUS) WR 98 beat (18) Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP) WR 22 6-3 6-3 6-4
Pity Evo hadn't had time to get his ranking high enough for US Open qualies ( was there a better player missing from at least that stage? ). Next year ...

To give more context to the above's win, which is a great achievement. RBA has had a terrible year - his mum died unexpectedly just before the French Open and then he was injured for most of the summer (having missed the grass season entirely) and only coming back to play Halle before winning some matches at the Swiss Open and then withdrawing from Rogers Cup/possibly Cinci as well due to injury.

Without checking back on the details I was aware things hadn't been going too well for RBA. But I hadn't realised that he'd missed so much or that his mum had died.
Anyone remember what the website was that used to stream all the challenger tournaments? Used to have it in my favourites but lost in years gone by, was great for replaying recent challenger games. Would love to see the last few games of Evo's match from last weekend.

You can also download it on app format as well if you are using a tablet or your phone like I do. Very handy and easy to use.
