Well the serve did fall off a bit, missed a few first serves. Katy played better in the last couple of games, but still missed some fairly easy chances to finish points. But Sharma made a few more errors, and Katy takes the TB 7-5
Katy played that TB brilliantly. The quality of her and Astra's match is in marked contrast to the mediocrity of Gabi's. I hope Gabi regains her groove soon. She could do with a run of matches again to iron out some of those technical niggles and recover her much more free flowing style from earlier in the year. And yes, she still has plenty of time, but this does represent a more testing period for her.
For Katy D, her target is certainly to break out of that aforementioned (by Indy) 9-30 pt range. Based on this early performance here, if she can continue to stay patient, her game looks good enough to do so.
1-1* 40-30* Katy finally gets a BP on the Sharma serve. Sharma hits a FH that clips the tape balloons up short and inviting for an easy put away and a break... but Katy misses the easy finish, and Sharma holds.
Put it out of your mind and continue on as you have been.
7-6(5) 2-1*
Katy was pretty impressive while I was watching. Serve is still horrible but the rest of her game is not too bad at all. Lovely drop shot then lob volley winner.
