Weeks 27 & 28 - The Championships, Wimbledon - men's singles (grass)

Good start for Jay - this really could be brilliant or terrible depending on which Gulbis turns up!

Jay has improved so much on grass since a few weeks ago at Nottingham. Going to try to watch this as well as Jos !!

Gulbis in the qualis was pretty mixed. He hates playing lowly players - thinks he's above it. But managed to buckle down and get the job done eventually. But it bodes well for Jay........

He played some excellent grass court tennis last year though

They'll be a bit of everything.
But five sets is a long match - long way to go

Jay 6-4 3-6. This really could go either way.

Well this is hard: Kyle with McEnroe commentary; absorbing match with Jay; and Jo all playing at the same time. Sticking with Jay but torn...

If Jay can just hang on and keep his first serve percentage up Gulbis could implode.

Gulbis very comfortable on serve this set in comparison to Jay but Jay is really digging deep, and as we say anything can happen.

*4-4

I feel this is going to the same way as Cam's match - experience will tell in the end. That said, now would be a great time to get a first 5 set win...

Gulbis leads, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(3).

Well done Jay not to capitulate after losing the third set tiebreak and to come back and break Gulbis in the fourth. Whatever happens ultimately, it says a lot about him as a player.

Jay's body language and attitude is very positive. He doesn't have the issue that Kyle did before this year i.e lack of presence on the court but neither does he overegg things.
