A huge bravo to Will Jansen (2004) this week who takes the doubles title in Kuwait (15k) and also made the QFs in the singles, before losing to the top seed.
Matt Rankin (2004) also made it through three rounds of qualis before losing in R1 of the MD in Egypt (and got a win in the dubs_
Isabelle Lacy (2006) also had a very good week - she came through qualis at the 25k in Loughborough, beating a top-500 player along the way, and then won her R1 match
Ella McDonald (2005) also won her two quali matches, including against a player ranked about 900 Jasmine COnway won one quali match Jess Matthews won a round in dubs too

In adult ranking for our girls, congrats to Talia N-G who overtakes Matilda to become our highest ranked junior player (Matilda will drop out of juniors altogether in two months, of course, but it's still a big achievement for Talia)
Will Jansen (2004) continues to have a great run in his last couple of months of junior-ship
He has made the singles semis in Kuwait 15k, and also the doubles semis (and still in play in both.....)
Matt Rankin (2004) also went one step better than last week and got his first main draw win, after winning three matches in qualis in Sharm 15k. Also got one win in the dubs.
GIRLS
At the Loughbrough 100k:
Ella McDonald (2005) had an excellent event, beating Helmi WTA 393, Plipuech WTA 336, before losing to Freya in R1 MD.
Isabelle Lacy (2006) also did very well, beating Vasilescu WTA 558, before losing to Wickmayer
Also,
Sarah Tatu (2004) won three quali matches and then two main draw ones, before losing out in the QFs in Spain 15k
Allegra Korpanec Davies (2007) won three matches in qualis at the 15k Tunisia, before losing in R1 - excellent run in her first ITF adult event, especially given her young age
We also have a new addition in doubles - our new youngest ranked player:
Doubles
1540 - Brooke Black (age 14)
(to be honest, it's a bit daft - she's played three dubs matches and lost all three - but somehow that gives you three points and an adult world ranking - what sense does that make???? However, congrats to her all the same)
Does Brooke Black have friends in high places? She seems to have made a lot of appearances at senior ITF events for a girl her age, including a doubles main draw wildcard at Loughborough. I know who her father is and the LTA is known to have its favourites, but still...
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to note that, even though junior girls generally rise through the ranks slightly quicker than junior boys, our female list is far more impressive than our male one.
Not only are there five girls who will still be juniors next year (unlike one for the lads), the rankings are far stronger overall.
However, it's a far better male list than generally we've had in the past. AND it compares pretty favourably with lots of other countries (Germany has hardly any, even Italy has hardly any - France and the US are pretty amazing but hey.....)
Although you expect the girls to always be better represented at adult level at this age than the boys, the difference in the GB contingent is still very marked - our girls have a decent showing whereas the boys' is feeble
