Juniors playing professional senior tennis

In week 48, pride of place goes to Felix Gill who made the semi-finals in Turkey, 15k, beating Marsel Ilhan along the way, ex-top 100 and currently top-600

So pleased to see him doing well, always rated him well above Toby Samuel and others, when he was miles off in terms of ranking.

And very good to see such a progression in this autumn batch of adult events, mainly using his JR.

From Nov 2020 onwards, he got:

knocked out in qualis in Portugal
lost in R1 in Spain
lost in R1 in Spain again
made R2 in Spain
made the SF in Turkey

And so, as of 7 Dec, our two top 2002-ers are both closing in on the top-1000 (with Arthur's big jump coming next week as the SF points go on)

1116 (+51) Arthur Féry

1407 (+165) Felix Gill

Not GB, but I see the Andorran junior girl has been given a qwc for the Aussie Open (list here)

Thanks for pointing out the list.  Although I don't think it is compulsory any longer to offer wildcards to junior slam winners the Australian Open has maintained its usual practice, and given a QWC to both Victoria Kasintseva and Harold Mayot (2020 boys winner)

And another win for Oriana, in Cairo. Against a junior about 1500 places higher ranked than her and with an adult ITF ranking

ADD: She ended up losing in the FQR but with a decent enough score against a ranked player, so well done to her.

For week starting Sunday 31/1/21, we have quite a handful of juniors playing in adult events, which makes a nice change.

For the men, in Egypt, we have Lui Maxted and Will Nolan, both born in 2003

For the women, in Spain, we have Lojan Shaker, born 2004

And in Egypt, Millie Bissett, born 2003

Lui Maxted didn't turn up - or has a wildcard into the MD (as seagull pointed out)

But it was a good day for the juniors today as they all three got a win.

Not such a good day today....

Millie, Will and Lojan all lost in their second quali matches.

However, we have Jack P-J in the main draw in Egypt, using his JR status

Matilda Mutvadzic ('04) is in the MD in Spain, also using her JR status.

And Jasmine Conway ('04) has a wildcard in the MD in Egypt too.

Millie is also in the doubles there.

However, Jasmine brings home the youngster win of the week

R1: CONWAY, Jasmine (GBR) WC UNR/1254 (CH=UNR/1241 2020) {16yo JCH=80} def. UEDA, Ramu (JPN) 657/697 (CH=527/676 2019) 6-1 6-2

Her second counter, I think?

Millie gets another win over a ranked player

Egypt 15k, QR2:- Amelia Bissett (GBR) [QWC] def Emanuelle Girard (FRA) WR1197 6-4 6-2

But Lui couldn't quite manage it, although put up a good effort:

Egypt 15k, QR2: (qWC) Lui Maxted UNR lost to Rémy Bertola (SUI) WR 752 3-6 6-3 10-1
