Kyle lost the opening set on a TB. Still looks a but rusty and his footwork in particular is not quite there yet after a layoff. Early on, Kyle tried on a couple of occasions to change direction with a backhand down the line but was late on it and pushed it into the tramlines. This is often the case when he is coming back from a break or a layoff and is quite on his game yet.
Having said that, Tiafoe has played well and there is little to choose between them. Before the match started, I predicted a 3 set win for Tiafoe. Still might be proved right on that one although I hope Kyle can prove me wrong.

I disagree. Did you actually watch this match????? Annoying!!
A very high standard by both players which swayed back and forth with both players trading cracking shots /breaks. Pressure from both sides but Kyle had the crowd and some dodgy line calls /umpiring against him. This didn't seem to bother him.
If anything he ran out of steam in the last few games which was totally under-stable considering its his first competitive match in months after a nasty injury. I was really impressed, very encouraging signs.
His movement and net play looked better than last season and his serve was more consistent. Tiafoe is a considerable talent, no shame in losing in 3 tight sets against him with about 75% match fitness

But that's no different than Fed playing a poor final-set tie-break last week.
Fed is not useless because he played one bad tie-break. And neither is Kyle.
It was a great match.
This analysis is world class......... Leyton Orient, conceded a 90th min goal once, and so did Man Utd, so yeh, happens all the time, none of them are useless. Oh hang on, wait, Man Utd have won the Premiership 10 times and Leyton Orient never.
Fact is, Easymund has a habit of chocking, which did disappear at the AO, but is now back, and the comparison to Fed is crazy as he was won 8 deserving GS, like Man Utd with titles.
Good though, at least we have learnt one thing, for the last decade Andrew Castle has been logging into this forum, and is Coup Droit!
It is fair to say that Kyle does have a fair amount of history in losing close matches so want that generally put behind him. But then again circumstances here - I'd say the Australian Open and then having had time off should certainly give him leeway for now this year. Sounds as if it was a good match and overall he is very much in credit so far this year with that Aussie Open being just two tournaments ago.
