Thanks sim, by the looks of things Gabi and Jo are the predictions to have done me most damage, but not knowing the new bunch very well hasn't helped either.
You've got Laura far too high up too Helen, and then the big 5 who have made moves, you haven't really got them moving. But I was also surprised when I saw your picks that your score was so low, since you have 9/10 names correct, which is more than I have right now
No thieves no cheats just an update on the womens' prediction table
Following the error of yesterday now corrected so Tennpar drops to mid table andall the other leaders move up a place so wimbledont takes the lead followed by theemptyvessel and MichaelD in joint second.
Plenty of time to change before the end of the season (rankings one week after ATP tour finals).
Thanks for the update Sim. I don't want to be a spoilsport, but is it right that Tennpar gets 5 points for predicting Freya at GB no 10? Or am I reading this wrong?

Yes, there are errors there Sim, you've given Tennpar 5 points for both Jodie and Freya, neither of whom are currently in the top 10, or close enough to warrant points - so they should both be 0s should they not? That would mean 10 points less for Tennpar...

Yes there is an error there I will look this evening.
Now we are looking towards the end of the season, here are my thoughts on how the rankings have panned out. I was hugely disappointed to see Naomi drop as much as she has (as I think she could (or perhaps could have been) be a much higher ranked player, but on the plus side, Katie Boulter is inching towards the ranking of 88 that I predicted and I have high hopes that Harriet and Katie Swan will make the jump to the top 100 next year - though not sure how high any of our girls will make it to, once they get there in the top 100 - but a top 100 place will be a great achievement for all of them, and I feel it is a question of when rather than if.
Gaby is the one who surprised me the most and she is now looking a much improved player, and I now feel she has a real chance of a top 100 place at some point in the next two years.
As far as the predictions are concerned, I am truly shocked to be as high as eighth place in these tables as I am so far out on so many players, but am kicking myself not to have followed my gut instincts and predicted Jo Ko would fall quite a bit - although I didn't expect it to be as much as it is, last year's rankings were a bit flattering I think and it always looked as if she was likely to fall I think.
Anyhow I am chuffed to bits at so many rises in the rankings, and I think we have the best crop of young women that I have seen since the 1970's (yes Unfortunately I am one of those old people who can remember back that far), but for me you have to go back to the days of Virginia Wade and Sue Barker to think of a more exciting time for British women's tennis. 2019 - can't wait.
Yes Andy, it has to be considered overall a good year for our women, most particularly for the youngest 5 in our top 8. A good indication of this is the 'strongest nation' thread showing how they have driven our top 10 average on to new heights even with Jo, Heather and Naomi being far off their CHs and the ongoing issue with our #9 and #10 being well back.
The season may have latterly been catching up with some with a few niggly issues, not to discount hopefully a good week or two yet. However given a close season to recuperate and build to next season and the prospects are pretty exciting for next season and the 2019 predictions are likely to prove very difficult! - unlike the usual easy ones
Just looking at the points the players beyond the top 8 have guaranteed themselves for 19/11, ie points earned so far less points due to come off in that final competition month, we have for the GB rankings guaranteed minimum points :
So all fairly close for positions #9 and #10, though Maia helped herself a lot last week after a quiet few months, and for these positions outside the top 10 that may still be counters if within 5 places of a GB top 10 prediction.

I didn't join the forum until Feb of this year so missed out on this, but like Jaggy, I would have got most pretty much spot on had I entered ;)
Seriously though, it is very interesting reading it back and seeing the predictions and I look forward to doing it for 2019. Harriet seems to have generally been a lot better than most were expecting, with Jo and Naomi the other way unfortunately. Some had circa 200 spots between Naomi and Harriet, yet once these Luxembourg points are removed, Harriet should amazingly be around 50 places higher. It's very pleasing looking back and seeing Katie B and S + Harriet performing a lot better than the general consensus.
