Although I know where people are coming from, I do feel that we have to be careful to judge players on their weight alone.
There are a couple of players who obviously have weight issues. It's visible and impossible to hide. Unlike many other 'shortcomings' in the training or discipline department others players may have.
As Naomi Cavaday will testify, it's a hard problem and one that's too easy to dismiss as lack of will power. And it applies to men as well as women.
So, as far as I'm concerned, all congratulations to Marcus for getting to the FQR (minimum). Maybe all the more congratulations are due, BECAUSE of him not being, perhaps, an ideal fighting weight. It's the results that count. And the behaviour. And you can't fault him for either at Wimbledon.
I understand, given that last year Mr Willis provided a much-needed moment of GB delight - why they are covering him. But I agree absolutely on the lack of press coverage for the others. A little about Jay Clarke, whose progress has been remarkable, and next to nothing about Alex Ward (Northampton papers - you'd best make up for the general letting down of the side!) or the fact that whether Mr Willis won or lost, GB would have the most men in FQR for decades. A la Paddington (with thanks to his beloved creator), one would like to fix them with a hard stare.
I hadn't seen Mr Willis play in ages: he remains entertaining to watch. That said, while I enjoy his play and always wish him well, on balance I would have liked to see Mr Broady win that match -he also needs it, and it would be good to see him get his day in the sun. But the match was fairly won - and as Mr Willis has a lot to defend and will probably be able to benefit more in terms of publicity from the success, it's also a win to rejoice in.
Would so love to see all three come through. Bring on 1999 redux!
Anybody actually know how much Marcus Willis weighs? From what I saw he seems reasonably quick and agile for somebody carrying excess timber. Like another poster said if it was the best of five I think Broady would have won.
Agree it's a real shame that they haven't filled Court 11 with Brits - would love to have watched as many as possible.
But having said that, given the amount of stuff I have to do today, maybe it's not such a bad thing after all!
That's unfair comment about marcus's weight he's made huge progress what is a bit unfair is the lack of recognition for myself and A1 Pharmaceuticals who managed and financially supported marcus for 2.5 years
we started in the gym in jan 2013 with a weigh in at 117kg !! Marcus must be around 95kg now that's a over 20kg reduction in eight
Jay will get his day in the sun because he will climb the rankings and is by far Britains best teenager marcus has a lot of charisma and a great story . As I said Jay Clarke I am sure will get his day in the sun the PR can be a huge distraction
When A1 sponsored marcus 2013-2015 his weight reduced to 117kg to 99kg
at 101 Kg marcus reached his highest ranking and initially struggled at his new lower weight .
Below 100kg were not getting noticeable benefits . Marcus game is highly suited to powerful serve and net craft and so is not neccessarily an issue on grass
my opinion is that marcus weight is not a huge issue on grass or indeed in doubles on any surface

Best of 5 marcus wins he's a genius on this surface
ranking 1017 - Dec 2012 117kg
ranking 320 - end 2015. 101kg
ranking 420 - july 2016. 92kg
current I estimate 95kg so arguably at his fighting weight
i believe that marcus best weight is always going to be 90kg + with more activity on tour hopefully post Wimbledon 2017 he will improve his fitness . Marcus is a powerful athlete /tennis player not a cat walk model

As I'm 6ft 1in and 95kg, I can tell there's no way that Marcus is 95kg. I'm not criticising his weight in any way, but given that he's 6ft 3ish he must be around 110kg ish.
Agreed, he is nowhere near his fighting weight, I haven't see him in this sort of shape since the snickers and Cola incident. Great result but not consistent with a man focused on breaking into the ATP tour.
I would love to see him make the tournament proper as he is undoubtedly skilled on grass and given the right draw could inflict further damage on the serious pros.
