Hi.New member here. I was at Didsbury this afternoon and saw Sam Murray's match from start to finish [2 1/2 hours very little between the players]. Really enjoyed the game which ebbed one way then the other. When Sam was 5-2 up with two breaks in the second set it looked all over, but the usual ''it's one thing getting up to the line, another getting over it'' thing then took place. As soon as it went to 5-3,part of me knew it was going to a third set. Baines was a very feisty and at times argumentative [with the umpire] player but she played with a lot of determination and skill. Her comments were usually wrong but a few were right . The best was ''if you didn't see that, then you shouldn't be in the chair''[she was wrong]. When Sam lost her serve twice at the start of the final set,it looked curtains, but she broke back immediately on both occasions. She then dropped her serve again serving for the match at 5-3 but showed great guts and spirit[as well as skill] to break Baines' serve and win[well deserved too].Very well done to her.
Cheers Hoots - welcome to the board. To be fair to Sam, if you look at the record this season, she has really struggled in tight matches, so a big confidence booster.
Thanks for the welcome. I hope to.But if I do,it will only be between about 1pm and 5pm ,so I will almost certainly miss KS V KD and Harriet's matches which are sadly first on the two main courts at 11am

Just Katie S vs Katy D and Harriet scheduled in singles for Tuesday. And naturally, as hoots indicated, for anyone wanting to go and watch Brits scheduled straight off at the same time
That's a pretty good draw, with no Brit facing a seed in R1, and 2 of our wildcards facing qualifiers. In fact, with the highest ranked pesky opponent @WR192, in a 100k tournament, it's as good as it gets.
I'm slightly worried about Harriet - Frech has a good game on grass (although she didn't do too well at Surbiton this year), and Harriet might find it tricky to get going again after last week.
My money's on Katy D over Katie S - probably wrong but .....
