 Hmmm and she's hardly won a main draw match since giving Fitzy up as her coach. Doesn't seem that that decision has helped her, however she has or has not replaced him. If she loses her main weapon first serve... then there is still not too much left in her game. cry

Katie had 8 break points and took 1, her opponent had 9 break points and took 4. Katie's first serve won % was good, she just needed a few more of them.

 Although as I recall Katie made the top 100 largely on the strength of Challenger success and then just found herself out of her depth when she stepped up to Tour level. In contrast Naomi has had far more success at Tour level than Katie did, probably because she has more big weapons in her game, but her form just seems to have deserted her these last few months.

Naomi is having a real bad spell. I'm afraid it's back down to ITF level to gain some confidence.
I understand she has committed to play Manchester ITF on grass(home tournament) rather than WTA event that week.

She and Fitzy clearly did very well together at first but from March last year she played 20 tournaments to the end of the year and only won 6 main draw matches, winning back to back matches in only one tournament. So she was struggling long before she changed coach.

She made the top 100 by doing well in weak wta's and big itf's but since getting there has only played a few of these and has mainly played the best tournaments she can play, which is understandable, but really reduces her chances of wins. This along with playing a full clay season and world team tennis has hugely reduced her chances of getting big points scores.

Skipping most of the clay season and playing itf's in the far east certainly looks her best bet to me.
