Miami seem to be into giving the youngsters WCs. Doesn't she train in the States too?

Good luck to them both.

Sadly it's more a case of IMG handing out wild cards to players who have signed with them.

Heather has drawn a qualifier and then Mladenovic if she wins through. Jo Konta has a qualifier or Alize Cornet, with, of course, a first round bye. Timea Babos is her first seeded projected opponent. Not a bad draw for Jo , if she is fit.

R96: Heather WATSON (GBR) 108 v. Qualifier
R96: Johanna KONTA (GBR) [10] 11 v. Bye

I'd agree with JonH, that draw for Jo does look like an opportunity; Dodin & Parmentier the others in her section.

Loses the first set 7-5

First serve not doing anything for her today.

Naomi broke straight back and it was on serve until 5-5 when Erakovic broke and then took the set 7-5
Come on Naomi!

Naomi was actually up 4-2 in the opening set.

Ah thanks - after I typed that I realised that I had made an assumption as I had been out of the room for a while! Ooops!

Loses 75 64. Had three break points in the final game.

Poor. Falling further away from top 100. Would be worth going to play the big challengers in the Far East and skipping the clay if she wants to have any shot at making Wimbledon on ranking.

At this point, there's more than a whiff of the Katie O'Briens about how her career is going.
