It's ultimately about the wins, but all three coming through R1 and posting these competitive scorelines against such ranked players in R2 is pretty encouraging going into the US Open.

I would agree, great preparation for the US Open and should certainly be confidence building, especially for Aljaz after a poor run in June/July and then sitting out the last 5 weeks. Now crossing my fingers our guys can all avoid seeds in the first round and get some momentum going at Flushing Meadows. With a good draw I have a sneaky feeling Evo could repeat Johanna's trick of last year and make a deep run here.
Good performances all round given the 50 places given away to each opponent, for Dan and Kyle it really is early doors in terms of regular exposure to top 50 opposition.
Like Kyle's progression through Futures and challengers it will be an incremental journey, going back and analysing where they can close the gap against more consistent players/players with specific weapons, maintains concentration and focus.
I Didn't see Kyles game but would be interesting to see how the second set got away from him and was the loss in the first set down to lack of confidence/over estimating his opponent?
