Week 30 - Challenger ($50,000) - Kentucky Bank Tennis Ch., Lexington, KY (USA) - Hard

Lloyd definitely top 200 maybe top 150 potential with his big game

Playing well, wins the first set 6-3

Looks as though the aforementioned upset is very much on the cards...

I genuinely think the ball boys have lost Dan that set

Dan is very much a rhythm player, especially between points and they're just not letting him do it.

I know you shouldn't complain, but they do seem very slow and unorganised for this level.

Ok, I take it back - JW really has dropped form although Lloyd did everything right. I'm guessing James was ill though

L32:  (Q) Lloyd Glasspool WR 282 defeated James Ward WR 244 by 6-3 3-1 retired biggrin  bleh

Watching the second part of a fascinating BBC documentary series about wildlife in Kiwi-land at the moment.  Did Dino appear to be in any kind of physical difficulty?

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a challenger event to have reasonably competent ball kids.

One serious consequence of today's result for James is that he may well miss out on US Open qualifying. The list will be based on next week's rankings and the best case scenario for James is that he will be 245. Last year the final cut was 237. We could end up with 4 British men in the main draw but none in qualifying.

Balance redressed:  Dan bags the second set by 6-4 to take the match into a decider.

Lloyd knocked Meister out in the same round (R2) in Binghamton last week.

Some decent chances there for Lloyd. On current form, I would back him to beat Wardy. Part of me hopes that they avoid each other but it would at least guarantee a Brit in R2.

Well.  I guess we are going to find out if I am right.

Lloyd plays Wardy.

I take no pleasure in getting this one right under these circumstances.  I hope James is OK and good luck to Lloyd in the next round.
