Things clearly not coming easy to her at the moment, like they were earlier in the year, but digging deep and winning ugly, great effort.

Prefer the qualifier spot against wildcard Abanda. Most of them look rather too difficult for Naomi, though there is one Q v Q match.

Naomi's actually doing remarkably well to consistently hold serve given her DFs ( basically about a DF a service game ) and many BPs faced.

Yesterday 18 aces but 13 DFs and only broken once, saving 8/9 BPs.

Today 15 aces but 15 DFs and only broken twice, saving 8/10 BPs.

Also serving low 50% first serve and DFing nearly a third of her second serves. Mainly it's the consistently high 80%s first serves won and those BP save stats that are keeping her holding serve.

Took 5/7 BP chances she had today. And ultimately that's a good result and through to the main draw

None of the placements were great but thats a bad one for Naomi. Her game doesn't match up well.

Great win for Broads, liked what Fitzy said in his tweet, about Naomi playing to win, something which she didn't do during the grass court season. If she can keep that mindset up, she is a danger to all. I think it'll be a lot closer than at Nottingham but it certainly isn't an ideal matchup.
