Week 30 - WTA Premier 5 ($2.7M) - Montreal, Canada - Hard

Tara broken to 15 so B M-S will serve for the match. But we have had more breaks than holds so here's hoping ...

4-5*

Tara gets it to deuce, though never ahead in the game but last two points to B M-S and we have a final set TB, which I'm certainly not predicting !

Oh Tara - all that effort only to lose the first 6 points of the tiebreak

So, 6 MPs

When Tara saved 3 MPs then BMS double faulted on the 4th, I began to wonder ...

I get the impression that it probably wasn't a classic match of our time, and will be one that will hurt as might have / could have / should have been won against a player certainly not used to winning in recent times.

Pity she went 0-30* in the 6-5* game and never got ahead in it to really crank up the pressure then and the TB quickly became an almost impossible task to again fully pressurise B M-S who still lost these 4 MPs in a row, throwing in a DF.

All in all though a good effort from the girls stateside. Jo Tara and Naomi all girls playing well on hard bodes well for Us Open.

Well done girls.

Bit disappointed with that from Tara. Second set got away from her and she had chances in the third. That was worth 20points. Still encouraging signs but that's two weeks we've been back to the serve looking very dodgy.

Well Naomi won thats the main thing....

Real shame for Tara.

But for someone who was WTA WR 314 only 8 weeks ago, she's doing amazing well.

And with absolutely nothing to defend for two months clear, and several counters of 1, 2 and 3 on her sheet to replace, it's really looking very bright.

Well done to Naomi for coming through, too (complete opposite to tara, Naomi has a really chunky two months to defend coming up.....over 300 points....)
