Regarding the topic of this thread. I was trying to work out who would be playing the WC playoff.
Wimbledon DA:
Kyle
Andy
Cam
Wimbledon MD WC
Liam
Jay
Outside chance for James or Dan.
Wimbledon Q Wc
Alex Ward
James ward
Ed Corrie
Lloyd Glasspool
Brydan Klein
Dan Evans
Then everyone else into the WC playoff. Will be interesting to see if Oli Golding turns up must be worth a couple of days off his day job just to try and get Q1 prize money.
Alex Ward, Corrie, Glasspool and Klein, there's a bunch in form err so not.
Trouble is I understand where you are coming from in that they have generally held there relative ranking position among Brits with noone really breaking through up to even their decending rankings, and they may still generally be the most likely to make something of a Q WC. Bit depressing though beyond our top half dozen or so.
Lloyd, with 30 points coming off, is though in danger of majorly falling outside the top 550 by Monday week, the last rankings date before the WCs are announced ( and is currently #639 in the race on just 17 points ) so unless he starts really showing something I think a Q WC for him should surely be in major doubt.
Really looking forward to the partisan roar from the deck chairs on top of the hill!, hopefully there will be more seats this year now it's a tenner! No excuse really not to put some temporary seating opposite the hill on courts 14, 15 etc generally where the Brit bashing goes down...... the potential for a real theatre of dreams there.
I can't help but feel it just won't be the same without Marcus in his figure hugging crop top and Bandana. Wildcard for Mr Willis please.

I'm sorry, but unless they can win some matches on the Challenger tour in the next couple of weeks I wouldn't give QWCs to Ed, Lloyd or Bryan. Alex Ward's ranking is the only one high enough to justify, along with Dan and James Ward, assuming they don't get MD WCs. Let the others go through the playoffs, and give any spare QWCs to the up and coming teenagers who will at least benefit from the experience. I'd even prefer Billy to have a chance rather than the same old faces who get in year after year but never go any further.
Just one query - WC Play offs are on 21-22 June I believe. This is Thursday and Friday of Queens / Ilkley with Roehampton qualies the following week.
For someone like Dan, if he isnt told he has a direct wild card to the qualies (or main draw) then he will have to assume he is playing WC play offs? That would mean he would forego Queens or Ilkley. Presumably it would only be fair and reasonable to have the LTA make a decision and tell Dan their plans and strategy (as is being reported by the Daily Mail, Toby (Topemp) raised a question in parliament to the LTA on this subject.
If Dan gets a Queens QWC or Ilkley Challenger WC, then presumably he wont be playing QWC Play offs and will be getting some sort of direct wild card to qualies or md at Wimbledon?

To be honest it would be a disgrace if Dan was made to play for a QWC at a play-off when you consider the lack of talent in GB men's tennis. I would have thought that the likes of Harris Pauffley etc would be in the QWC maybe Jonny O'Mara or Goulding but the latter two I don't think have the necessary drive and determination to appear in a play-off draw
Leaving aside the fact that Evans is an unpleasant stain on society, there is no point in him playing pre qualies. Not only will he will walk through the draw but it would mean punishing him again. He has served his sentence albeit a ridiculously lenient one and it would also mean that someone else will miss a chance to earn a few bob and have a shot a qualifying. You can't give him a MD WC as this would make his ban fairly pointless if he is allowed to just walk straight back in to the top tier. So a Q WC it should be. Good luck to any of his opponents.
Whether the LTA will wholly consider knuckling down consistent with chirping away about how he has been knuckling down so let's be having these WCs I'm not sure. Certainly fair enough to discuss it in private with them, but publicly campaigning I have similar concerns re I initially had re Toby's questions.
I understand more, especially since he kindly came back on my initial post, where Toby was coming from, but I think Dan himself has to be careful. And actually Toby agreed, as have some others, that qualifying to date has been not unreasonable, so it's more where now, especially re Wimbledon. So unless Dan has strong vibes that are not to his liking then a less vocal approach might be better.
I'm kind of betwixt and between a MD and Q Wmbledon WC at the moment so no strong feelings on that, though his pure tennis talking has been moving me more towards a MD one.The play-offs should not be in the equation.
Not entirely sure about Mark's reasoning for a Q WC though with "make his ban fairly pointless" if he got a Wimbledon MD WC. First that in itself is nonsense as he has missed a full year, it's not as if it's all about Wimbledon. Second I detect in that wanting him to serve some further punishment. Yet his reasoning for Dan not going to the play-offs was that would be "punishing him again", So I would have thought either ban done, and base any WC on him as a British tennis player, and what is known of his general ability, form, fitness and it seems attitude, rather than punishment served and while being against punishing him again can we just punish him a bit more since I didn't really like the punishment.

Toot, toot for now....
Are you Stan Collymore in disguise?
Mark's still sore we can't burn heretics and drown witches though it's probably on Trump's to do list
hmmm, doesn't seem like the wisest move for Dan to have gone public, especially with the Daily Fail. Given his current form, and assuming his attitude is professional I would say either MD or QWC depending on how he does this week, as he's proved he's up to top 100 standard. Play offs is just silly for all concerned.I'm not a Dan fan, but common sense should prevail.
I might be wrong but I think Dan was doing a press interview post his qf or sf match at Surbiton and was effectively musing, train of thoughts type stuff, which got turned into this "urging" stuff that the press like to do - hyperbole out of nothing.
I think it is fair enough - if LTA said buckle down, and perform , and you'll possibly see the wild cards start to come then I think it is quite Dan like to effectively say"done all that, no lets see if the LTA deliver". I think it goes on to say that he doesnt expect one and realises that given the mistakes he made, many folks would be against it, so overall I think Dan was quite balanced and reasonable, effectively thinking out loud. But the Daily Fail likes to make headlines where there arent any. Probably a slow news day!
Of course, I can imagine, the LTA will have said exactly that - perform, keep clean, get fit and we will see. Problem for them is I think they have got caught now Dan has done all that - they are probably running both ways right now wondering what to do - please the baying hoards who want to burn Dan or play to the lefty liberals like me and give him the WC! Easiest thing to do is bury their heads, so the SE for Nottingham solved their immediate problems. Issue for them is the problem will keep coming back!
I think where it will become really impossible for the LTA is when/if Dan plays Cam later this week - win there and the case is v difficult to ignore!
