What a week for Emma.

We do seem have quite a few promising 12-14 year olds. Time will tell if they will break all the way through. The future looks bright.

Roger Draper, is that you?

Seriously though, she sounds a prospect and that's nice to see.

I've been following british tennis for 15 years now. I can't remember a time with so many promising youngsters. It may come to nothing but I like to be an optimist.

She was ready to start at this level, having had significant European success within her age group. A lovely foundation on which to build a junior ranking and a performance based on agility, athleticism and technique. A nice reward for all the hard work put in so far and great motivation for all the other kids training at Bromley.

Sounds very impressive - look forward to seeing how things go. And a little optimism never hurt!

Quite remarkable from Emma given that at 13 years and 8 days this was the first ITF tournament she could have entered - a good chance then that she is the youngest ever winner of an ITF under current rules. Consecutive tournament wins for Aidan.

Boys F

Aidan McHugh d. Damian Rodriguez 7-6(2) 3-6 6-4

Girls F

(WC) Emma Raducanu d. (1) Lauryn John-Baptiste 6-1 6-4

Just a little 'shout out' to Leon Smith's brother, Toby Smith, who is Aidan's coach smile

And to Ali Filmer, Emma's coach

I was just checking this year's event and found out it has moved to the Wirral.

The council have spent a lot of money on Wavertree Indoor Centre this year. The indoor courts have all been re-laid and the outdoor courts are currently being re-laid, so surprised that the event has moved.

Bit of a pain as Wavertree is 5 mins away for me and Wirral is 30mins and a toll through the tunnel

Paulsi, outrageous we should campaign to get the tournament back to Liverpool. I was going to comment on how it is so tennis to move it to the green fields of the Wirral only to find that the Wirral tennis centre is actually slightly closer to the centre of town.

So purely based on the fact that live reporting is integral to the concept of this site and we need to know what is going on in this Grade 5, junior futures event. Please let us know of the extra costs incurred and who to write to, unless of course the supporter experience has been appropriately advanced.

I do think we should use the non league papers "ground hopper" report format where marks out of 5 are given for the quality of the welcome, view, programme, catering and beer as an afterthought there is also a rank for the match

Looks like there is a Tennis Europe event at Wirral this week as part of the two week festival and GB have a representative in both the boys and girls finals tomorrow.

I'm hoping to get down to the ITF junior event on Sunday and Wednesday next week

I look forward to an update on the quality of the catering, and of course some live reporting.

Looking back Emma was exceptional from a very young age but it does seem a shame how little progress her contemporaries have made in comparison. Is Holly Fischer still playing even?

Holly Fischer, apart from modelling, is part of the womens tennis 2021-2 roster at Harvard .
