ANy news on what Holly Ficher is up to? haven't seen her name about since the bit title she won in Feb and maybe GBR team events.

Holly has won one or two under 12 events and been training at the Mouratoglou Academy. Alize Cornet tweeted this photo last week: https://twitter.com/alizecornet/status/664120530044350464

She's certainly been on the news website of Mouratoglou.

And I think she's entered for some of the top U14, or whatever, junior events in the US - I'm sure I read it somewhere recently but can;t remember where.

Slightly surprised Esther got beat, but Emma keeps on going and has a good chance of making the final

Lauryn JOHN-BAPTISTE (GBR) [1] 6-7(4) 6-4 6-4 Alice GILLAN (GBR) [8]
Nika ZUPANCIC (SLO) [4] 6-1 2-6 6-3 Esther ADESHINA (GBR)
Emma RADUCANU (GBR) 6-2 6-3 Martina PALADINI JENNINGS (GBR)
Sophia DERIVAN (IRL) 7-6(2) 6-3 Olivia ELLIOTT (GBR)

in the boys, the only surprise to me was Ewen losing

Damian RODRIGUEZ (GBR) 6-4 6-2 Arnaud DESTREBECQ (BEL) [1]
Matthew STORY (GBR) [3] 4-6 6-2 6-2 Aaron SCHMID (SUI)
James DAVIS (GBR) [4] 7-6(4) 7-5 Ewen LUMSDEN (GBR) [7]
Aidan MCHUGH (GBR) 6-3 6-3 Piotr SMIETANA (POL) [2]

The boys doubles final is between Benaim and Fryze and Carr and Story

The girsl doubles final is between the top two seeds Hunter and Baptiste v Verden Anderson and Zupancic

Easy win for Emma - not bad for her first attempt at this level.

Awesome week from Emma. Lauryn will have too much power and experience, but she should be really happy with this weeks results.

Really well done Emma. And again mention for Marni Banks, also 2002 born, who has shiwn signs of being another real prospect and in the L16 here ( OK, we are looking at just one match-up ) lost a a pretty close 3 setter to Emma.

I agree that Lauryn should be a big favourite in the final, but don't write off Emma. Emma played very nicely, but her opponent didn't really look interested. Body language was terrible, her movement was poor and bar the occasional flashy winner was all at sea.

Lauryn was very solid against a useful Slovenian girl.

In the boys, Aidan played very well and showed a lot more than when I saw him earlier in the week. A lot more aggressive. The most competitive match was Damian v Matt and Damian seems to be on top form this week. Big serve and very good all round game.

It's a shame there were so few people there and it was freezing. I think there were about 3 of us watching Emma's match, which was the only game on court and one of those was Emma's mum.

By the way Aidan had his coach with him all week, so I guess he is getting funded. The rest were with their groups - West Hants, Team Bath bar Sophia, who seemed to be on her own.

Jeez, that is one bleak venue!!  You really need a good reason for being there.  That said, in previous years (not sure about this one), the organisers have made an effort with coffee stalls and a hot buffet, plenty tables and chairs in a public area, free wifi etc.  One year they got the Skupskis to put on an exhibition/clinic and the staff are all genuinely helpful and friendly.  They really do try hard and are proud of hosting an international event but spectators really do need their winter woollies!

They changed it a bit. The caterer and the table tennis table have gone and the tables and sofas are in the reception area with a catering van outside so they could used all six courts.
The caterer went as they couldn't make it pay and most of the players walked round to Tesco Express for food and drink.

It's a council owned venue, so it has it's limits in terms of facilities and is located in one of the less wealthy areas

You're not selling this as a destination. (If it's that cold, why don't they host an event earlier in the year?) But congratulations to all who have managed not only to survive, but to thrive, despite the circumstances.

Interesting to hear that Aidan is doing well, and a youngster. You've got to admire what's going on in Tennis Scotland.

Lauryn can be quite up and down - plays her style, whether it works or not.

I got Damian Rodriguez completely confused with Ricky Hernandez - but never mind......
