Just checking, he actually hasn't been beaten on court before the SF of any Masters this year. Withdrew at the L16 stage in Rome, because he couldn't stop winning clay court matches and hence playing more until he was knackered and didn't play the non compulsory Monte Carlo, choosing to get married around that time, let him off Otherwise he reached at least the SF in the other 7.
Yet, yes he trails a long way behind Novak in many ways. Indeed, as Ratty says, not great career timing. Couldn't Judy have waited a few more years to start a family ...
