SF:  (8) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 29 (15+14) defeated Steve Johnson & Sam Querrey CR 250 (168+82) by 6-4 6-7(2) 7-6(7)   jump.gif

They served for the match at 5-3 in the third... hmm  Then came from 2-5* down in the third set tie-break! wink

*****

One out of two ain't bad at this level! wink  The "surprise package" meets its match & Jamie & John reach their second Grand Slam final in a row! biggrin

Final ( biggrin ):  (8) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 29 (15+14) vs (12) Pierre-Hugues Herbert & Nicolas Mahut (FRA/FRA) CR 44 (21+23)

Qonson -JJ:

0-1, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1 (mini-break for Qonson), 3-2, 4-2, 5-2 ... oh dear ... 5-3, 5-4 ... now back to Qonson to serve ... 5-5! break back, 6-5 (match point ... but back to JJ to serve), 6-6, 6-7 (match point for JJ but back to Qonson to serve), 7-7, 7-8 (break for JJ), 7-9 and Messrs Murray and Peers are into their second final. Not that that was tense or anything.

Never felt so tense watching a doubles match! Well done Jamie and John, I thought it was slipping away in that tiebreak but they battled back well. Back to back GS finals, quite an achievement and I fancy them to go one better this week.

Being pernickety they were *2-5 down in the final set TB, which isn't quite as awkward as 2-5*

Still ruddy good to get the win

How nobody has mentioned the volley by Jamie at MP down yet is ridiculous. One of the best volleys you're ever likely to see. Absolutely incredible!!

True.  I suppose I just got a bit carried away with the drama of the tie-break! wink

And from the BBC coverage of the day's events ...

Inglot and Sweden's Lindstedt were playing in only their fourth tournament together, having won the US Open warm-up event in New Haven, but could not build on an early break and struggled on serve as Herbert and Mahut took control.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/34216330

Why? That is not a hard thing to fact-check ... indeed, the BBC must have carried the Winston-Salem results

Edit: Then again, I just realised that I've frequently been getting the spelling of Lindstedt's name wrong ... so who am I to speak?!
