Ah, I hadn't realised that Djokovic had withdrawn from Madrid. I read that this is apparently to help save himself more for the French Open ( given I assume he risked playing, i.e. winning, too many matches in Madrid and Rome ), but he himself has been rather quiet.

It will be Kohlschreiber or Falla in R2 for Andy, presumably on Wednesday if Andy and Philipp get out of Munich on Monday.

The lack of a day off didn't cause Kohlschreiber any problems. He beat Falla 1 and 4 in less than an hour

L32: (2) Andy Murray WR 3 v Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER) WR 24

Given they had so much time off court last week because of the rain delays, both players should still be reasonably fresh, if not having enough prep time in the differing conditions in Madrid.

The winner will face (13) Monfils, 6-2 6-0 winner over Troicki, or Granollers in the L16.

Yep and takes so much time over it that assuming no court shifts Andy is in for a very late one.

Kuznetsova vs Stosur first.

AND there was quite a long delay in starting it as they had to clear the stadium for the evening session spectators.

If Fed now decides to play Rome, which was in doubt before, it will mean Andy dropping to #3 seed.

It has been pointed out on Twitter that Andy is now the highest seed left in a clay Masters!

This could be a long night. If the Stosur v Kuznetsova match goes to 3 sets, it could be well beyond midnight before Andy even gets on court. So if today's match is anything like the final two days ago, they will still be playing when the sun comes up.

Ridiculously late for a tennis match to start in my books. No way I can stay up for it. Good luck Andy!
